      That’s great music!

“We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one!”

When I'm in the car and that song comes on, I open the windows and blast it down the highway.  It's got a great beat, if nothing else.

'Oldies" is hard for me to define (like your other question, ha)  - -

As a young boy, for hours on end, listening to my parents' COUNTLESS albums of all genres, I remember falling in love with this song --

    "Theme from 'Moulin Rouge' "

and only by Percy Faith and his Orchestra. And only the instrumental-only version (there is a great version with a nice female vocalist, too, but I prefer just the orchestra).

This is so TIMELESS  to me in its beauty. And pretty much anything by this orchestra grabbed me at a very young age and made a difference for the better for me. And still does.

In addition to my official answer, I like that song you posted. I think I saw, not too long ago, your posting the song and it had some really cool dancers dancing in a group. They were great dancers to me - - looked like "everyday-kind-of-very-attractive" people having fun. And they kicked some a** with their unassuming-but-tight dancing.

Maybe I have the wrong song in mind, though.

No way in the world to have a favorite oldie.  Here are a few that came to mind immediately.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

    My Sweet Lord, George Harrison

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, The Four Tops

Up on the Roof, The Drifters

    Hold Me, Mel Carter

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, The Platters

Time in a Bottle, Jim Croce

    Anything by Nat King Cole

I agree with you; we can’t pick just one

I can’t name just one song! That is like asking me to try and name just one woman! It‘s pure cruelty!

It's a long way to Tipperary

That was when we had a gramaphone and a bunch of old records came with it before we had electricity back on the farm.

I just listened to the song on utube  It is different from the gramaphone record. This post was edited by Kittigate at January 5, 2021 6:20 PM MST

    Define "oldie". 17th century perhaps?

    How about Adagio for Strings?

The first time I heard this, it was played at the funeral of Grace Kelly.  It is one of the most haunting pieces I've ever heard.  It is also the theme music for the movie "Platoon."

Barber did that one in 1936. Pachelbel composed "Canon and Gigue in D Major" sometime before 1690. He taught Bach's older brother.

Interesting.  I also discovered that they played that piece at Albert Einstein's funeral.

    This one grabbed me, too.

" Theme from 'A Summer Place' "   Percy Faith and His Orchestra's version.
