Do you ever over-analyze emojis?

I recently heard that the 'thumbs up' emoji means "f*ck you" and I was shocked. It's my go-to quick response for almost every text I get! 

Emojis are hard for me. What does  mean? Does this  mean dead or you're an angel and innocent?

      I don’t fully understand all of them either, nor do I think the limited offerings of them here on AnswerMug default ones sufficiently or accurately convey what I’d want them to in certain uses. 

      As for 
      , I never use it because I don’t know what it means or is supposed to mean. 




    To me,   is an innocent angel. I’ve never associated it with death, so your mention of its possible connotation is the first I’ve heard of that. 


    I do, however, know this one QUITE well:

    I've wondered about the angel because I've seen them used both ways. I think there are multiple angel emojis on other sites, devices, apps, etc. I don't know. I avoid it because I'm not sure. 

    I thought  was the laughing face! I didn't think it was Grrrrrr or Doh at all!

    I mostly use the smile and on rare occasions, something with a heart or a thumbs up.  I have no idea what most of them mean and I prefer to use words rather than symbols.  The Egyptians used symbols.  Do we really want to admit that's how far we've regressed?  Maybe if emojis weren't so popular, people would spell better and use correct grammar.

    I mostly don't know what they are trying to say.  I use the smile and wink pretty often but the others I leave alone.  I have wanted to use one to be able to show sympathy but I've never seen one...even in the oft-found sticker selection.     I'm really glad to hear it's not just me!

    I think of the wink as a sign of humor, but I've heard that others think it indicates flirting. 

    Words really are better.

    Thumbs up isn’t really “Faak you” but it is dismissive and is like replying with “yep” or “k”.  So it means “faak off, leave me alone”. 

    The other emoji you used I’ve never seen used anywhere. NO ONE uses the angel emoji, anywhere. So if you use it, it means you’re probably old af or at least that’s the way it will be perceived. 

    For “I’m dead” or “dead” you use the skull emoji, but “I’m dead” doesn’t actually mean “dead”. Dead means you found something extremely funny.  You can’t use the crying with laughter emoji anymore for finding things humorous  because that also means you’re old and out of it.

    So, nothing to over-analyze at all  ;)

    I seriously thought it just meant "got it". But I do not like having full on text conversations at all and most people know this about me. I'm sure anyone I really care about knows that I'm in that old AF and out of it category. 

    I think the hearts have colors that actually mean different things. Black heart surely can't be good, right? 

    Yeah... I really do prefer words. 

    On this site,  means that I'm high.

    Okay.... that's what I heard the real housewives of salt lake City think those thumbs up emojis mean. To answer your question ....  thumbs up emoji does not mean F..you.

    Was it Salt Lake City? I couldn't remember where I heard it, but I know it had to have been somewhere on Bravo! 

    As long as I keep watching Bravo, I'll stay in the know of what's hip, cool, fresh, happening, etc., etc.
