Very much so. (I never planned to stop going in the first place, ha.)

I love the whole experience, including a big screen and superb sound. And treating myself.

I am going to get back to Loews yet Welby but for now..I have been engrossed in this movie with Anthony Quinn, Gotti from 1996. It is truly astounding a third of the way through and possibly the best movie ever made. This post was edited by CosmicWunderkind at November 3, 2021 9:14 PM MDT

Here for a second only -- I watched about ten seconds of this at the three minutes point - - looks sort of fascinating to me!

I have been to the movies twice this year. Yes, if it is a movie I want to see....I will go to the movies.

Unlikely. I still go to the drive-in on rare occasions.

The last time I went to the movies I saw Ted.  I dislike the experience because people are rude and inconsiderate.  They spend all kinds of money on a ticket and then spend the time on their cell phones.  In my neighborhood, if you go early, you get all the old people who can't hear, so the volume is so loud you can go deaf.  If you go to a late show, you get all the youngsters who think this is dinner theater.  Worse yet, the smell of popcorn makes me nauseous.

I went almost a decade without going into theaters, a post-COVID visit does not seem likely for me. The quality of the average movie today doesn’t inspire me, and the prices are ridiculous. The cell phone use during the movie pushed me over the edge years ago, it took the issue of people talking to each other while the movie rolls and made it even worse because of ring tones and speakerphone. People allowing children run all over the place screeching at each other is another thing I’ve always despised.

I agree with all the other points you make.  I don't even know what the tickets cost these days.  I don't think there's been a movie out since Ted that I want to see.  Too little imagination and reliance on rehashing old movie plots with new actors.

Did you enjoy “Ted”? (I’ve never seen it.)

I did.  It was light-hearted and funny, if you don't mind a few "adult" words.

I was done 35 years ago, except for a drive-in about 22 years ago.

I'm happy for it to be a done deal. I realized it's really not my thing (volume, mostly) at least 20 years ago.

Volume as in quantity/amount, or as in audio/decibels?

    Thank you for the clarification.

(Besides, I like the photo of Decibel Lady over the photo of Quantity Lady. She’s cuter.)

Yes! I watched "Dune" in a movie theatre last month, and "Suicide Squad" during the later part of the summer. And there is Leeds International Film Festival later this month, for which I have already bought tickets.

Theatre seats are filthy and disgusting.  I'd rather stay home.
