Depends on (1) if they targeted civilians, and (2) if there is an interstellar version of the Geneva Conventions.

If they have evidence (2) is yes ... they would be held according to those terms.
Even though we haven't signed it, it would show good faith that we want any of our people treated to the same terms.

If (2) is no and (1) is yes ... they would be executed.

If both are no ... they would be held as a prisoner of war under the Geneva Conventions.

Of course, the chances of aliens attacking us is practically zero.
It would be much simpler for them to get resources from asteroids and uninhabited planets.
And if they have the technology to travel between planets, they probably don't need slaves.

Heck no.  I like those stories.
I also like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and steampunk and fantasy stories.
But I know they aren't real.

One of the best books I've read (and My Number One Favorite Title to a Book) - -  "The Midwich Cuckoos" by John Wyndham - - this book inspired a movie that terrified a young WelbyQ -- the original 1960 black-and-white "Village of the Damned."

I saw the movie, it scared me witless -  and then I went to the library to get the book, ha. Wyndham's scifi stuff is flawless to me.   :)

PLOT SPOILER!!! "THE MIDWICH CUCKOOS"!  "VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED"!!!

the alien spacecraft are the village women's embryos

Dated now, but still darned good yarns. My fave of his would be either The Chrysalids or The Kraken Wakes.

    Yes!!! :)

I especially like "The Kraken Wakes." I let myself really enjoy the fact that everything I've read by him creeps me out in great and enjoyable ways.

Maybe they are dated, too, but it makes little difference for me. They still can grab me. I reread one of his works every now and then.

Your reply is a fun way for me to get going on my day. Thanks Slartibartfast!

I would do whatever it takes to get vital information out of them that would help us defeat them the next time they show up. Cheers and happy weekend!
