Have you ever read or heard that experiencing deja vu is actually some type of seizure?

Do you experience it?

What is deja vu and why does it happen?

A subset of epilepsy patients consistently experience deja vu at the onset of a seizure- that is when seizures begin in the medial temporal lobe. This has given researchers a more experimentally controlled way of studying deja vu.

I have not heard that but now that I have it worries me a bit. I believe I have experienced deja vu may times (could be the pot but it could be deja vu). Usally it is no big deal but now maybe I will  have to wonder if I am having a seizure. And if I am having seizures I'll wonder if I should see a doctor and if I go see a doctor and tell him about the deja vu thing he might tell me to give up the pot. Cheers!

Hahaha! I don't think you need to worry about it. Interesting stuff, though.

P.S. - marijuana is used to treat seizures, so he might tell you to increase the dose!  Cheers!

Yeah, too much to think about sometimes. No wonder we forget things!

    Yes, true.

(And it was also my weak attempt at humor  remembering/deja vu, ha.)

Nope, but orgasms can certainly be described that way.

I thought you were more well read than that. Have you not heard of:

La petite mort (translated from the French language: "the little death") is an expression which means "the brief loss or weakening of consciousness" and in modern usage refers specifically to "the sensation of post orgasms likened to death."

Listen, I can drop by any night you’re available and give you a demonstration of how it’s played out. It’s what I do.

I might have an opening in my schedule. I'll get back with you.

It does sound familiar, now that you mention it.

Good thinking on checking your schedule, very proactive. In the meantime, I’ll let myself in using the duplicate key I had made, and I’ll hop into the shower then I’ll wait for you in your spare bedroom . . .

I guess that might be a description of an absence seizure.

    Thanks.

    Nope.

I believe deja vu is your subconscious signalling your conscious mind that it pieced together what is about to happen, or just happened, before it happened.  Kinda like a "I told you so".

    Hmmm.

That's interesting. Not in a reassuring way, I don't think.

    Thanks.

Sure, it's happened.  No seizure though.  Time and discussion generally explain it.  Sometimes I realize pretty quickly when I have been there before.

What if you're 100% sure you've never been there before - no way, no how? Yet you feel as though you've already experienced the exact circumstance, same place, same people.  Or did you mean that figuratively; the "when I have been there before" part?

    Thank you.
