What is a food that was ruined for you (permanently or temporarily) and how did it get ruined for you?

This question was inspired by a reply to this question: https://answermug.com/forums/topic/135251/what-would-be-a-horrible-jello-recipe/view/post_id/939379  I’m not really interested in corn chips after I heard a comedian compare the toes of cruise ship passengers wearing sandals to corn chips last week.

My ex-wife had a Jack Russell terrier. He smelled like corn chips, although I still ate them.

I cooked a corned beef brisket and cabbage in 12 bottles of beer.  The cabbage is awful, taste like beer.  Didn't taste anything at all like the one my friend cooked.  I think I used too much beer, never again.  I don't even like the taste of beer generally.

I used to like salmon, until somebody barbecued a salmon patty. It was awful, but the cat liked the three quarters that I didn't eat.

Tomato soup, when I was a kid a fly landed in my tomato soup and I kept looking at it imagining the soup was fly blood. I’ve not had it again since that day Cos it’s fly blood to me now.

Every now and then mom would put a whole tomato in our school lunch. I bit into one and there was a worm. It was quite a while before I ate another worm. This post was edited by Element 99 at December 20, 2021 5:29 AM MST

Our dog got run over by a truck and made quite a bloody mess of him. I guess it was coincidence that we had for supper that evening (I can't remember the word for that dish) a kind of steak cooked in tomato sauce. I had to find something else to eat for my supper and every time I see that item reminds me of that scenario, that poor pooch.

My children and I were in a restaurant years ago and I poured some ketchup from a bottle onto my plate.  I dipped a piece of potato in it and put it in my mouth.  It was rotten and I all but threw up.  I have never had ketchup from a bottle at a restaurant again.  Before I order fried potatoes I make sure they have the little packages.  If they don't I don't order fries.  I rarely eat in restaurant now anyway.

The first bite of mayonnaise, of guacamole, of Vegemite was all it took. I won’t get near them at all.

    Catfish.
The first time I had it, it was good.
The next few times, it tasted like mud.  So I stopped ordering it.
    Now, I won't eat it.
