By eliminating everyone I could research over the past three and a half years, I’ve narrowed down her possible location to 473 of 11,306 residences. She sold her place and moved out recently, and conventional wisdom might dictate that my searching should therefore start all over, yet the new development actually does the opposite for me. By remaining in one spot for years, she melded into a routine that helped mask her whereabouts and movements, but now she’s the one whose new patterns cause ripples in the existence continuum that will reveal more than it conceals. I estimate another intensive dragnet should narrow down the trail sufficiently, and right around late 2023 or early 2024, I should be there.

The philosophy of Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz. I concluded that the guy was a closet nihilist.

I didn't do a full analysis but I read Daniel Allen Butler's book, "The Other Side of the Night: The 'Carpathia,' the 'Californian,' and the Night the 'Titanic' Was Lost."

I find it very interesting that a ship, the "Californian," was within sight of the "Titanic," and did see the "Titanic" in distress, and the people on the ship chose to not help.

As tragic as the Titanic's sinking is, and how famous the sinking is in culture, my conclusion is that I find it, in some ways, more fascinating that it is not more well known that another ship was within helping distance and did nothing.

I knew of it. I learned about it over a decade ago.

The fact that other mariners were close by enough to have offered assistance yet mysteriously did not.

Yes, you're right -- I realize many know if it. I guess what I meant with my answer is that with how famous/infamous the Titanic tragedy is, I'm surprised that it is not just as well known that another ship was so close and in sight of the Titanic. I don't think the Californian's role is so well known that everyone who knows about the Titanic knows about the Californian.

I don't remember that ship even being mentioned in Titanic movies I've seen - other than, maybe, a brief mention in the Leo D and Kate W Titanic movie. To me, the Californian's role is possibly interesting enough to "have its own movie."

And that book was really interesting to me.  :)

Hundreds of analyses.  Every legal memo has one.  I did so so many market analyses back when selling real property.
