I have a internet phone.  It is the number I give to people who I do not want to have my cell phone number.

Yes, rotary phone on the wall, and touch tone on my desk.

Yes.  It is the phone I talk on.  Will not give it up voluntarily but I've been told that I'm grandfathered.  They are no longer offering true land line service anymore in this area.  The mobile is just for when need to make a call away from home.

I do because I think that there is more security with a landline phone. If a thief breaks into my house and I smash them in the head with my landline phone they are going down. But if I smash them in the head with a smartphone it would probably just tick them off. Cheers!

Excellent point and I find it much more satisfying to be able to slam the receiver down on someone which you can't do with a mobile phone.

Maybe there is an App for that (makes the sound of a receiver  being slamed down). Cheers!

That imaginary grammar cop would look more official if he was wearing a pair of lederhosen.

My cell phone is so old it doesn't do anything but make/receive calls and texts.  That was all I needed 10 years ago and it's all I need now.

Not on this phone.  :)  In fact, Verizon just notified me that after December 2022, I will not be able to use a 3G phone and there are only a couple of 4G phones that will continue to have service.  Now, I will be forced to buy a 5G phone.

If I am forced to buy a smart-phone, I will do without. I did for fifty years.

Normally, I would say the same, but I like having a phone when I'm driving just in case I get into an accident or there's a problem.

I have found a new 4G flip-phone. It was introduced in Great Britain, but it is here now. It has a few extra features that I will never use.

I'm afraid to get a 4G because before I know it, they will stop supporting them, so I might as well bite the bullet now.  They all have extra features I won't use, but that's how they get you to spend so much money - even on the less expensive ones.

(And some people get bent out of shape if they are forced to wear a mask. But I guess there is no problem being forced to buy a new type of phone because the phone you already bought will no longer be serviced --  -- well, thanks a lot. )

Where's Ernestine when we need her? She wouldn't put up with it.  :)
