Do you think Trump is right in saying that Putin is very savvy?

The other day Trump praised Putin and said his aggression towards the Ukraine was genius. He also said Putin was very savvy for describing his troops aligned on the Ukrainian border as peacekeepers. Then Trump added "now Putin is going to go in and be a peacekeeper that’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen - there were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re going to keep peace, all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy.” The extra crappy part about all that is Trump said that on Americas Presidents' Day - he praised a dictator and his army on  Americas Presidents' Day. Cheers!

Trump calls Putin's Ukrainian moves "GENIUS" because he is a sick man who hates Democracy.

    Putin IS savvy.
At least, it appears that way to me.
Does nobody else see the similarities with Putin's moves against Ukraine, and Hitler's opening moves prior to WW2?
They both "liberate" what they claim as the "homeland" of their people.
Areas that are also necessary to provide a buffer zone against hostile foreign nations.

I mentioned the Nazi ploy against Poland in a previous comment here. I have known about it for years. I hope by now everyone else knows. This post was edited by Element 99 at February 23, 2022 9:41 PM MST

I think there are a lot of people in government who believe they are smarter than Chamberlain and the rest of the "appeasers" of that time - and believe that their actions (or lack of them) are totally different, and will lead to a different outcome.

More like the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. Putin has been infiltrating the Donbors region for a decade, more than 700,000 Russian passports have been issued there in recent months.

Putin is playing Biden like a drum.
This is the same thing he did with Crimea under Obama.   Worked then and it will work now.

Putin is not playing Biden like a drum. But Trump is playing the drum for Putin  banging on a war drum to make Putin look like a concurring  hero. Cheers!

Trump is banging the war drum?
Biden told Putin we would not do anything  to him...he gave Putin permission.  "Well if it is just a minor incursion..."

Trump told Putin when he was President if Putin invaded Ukraine....we would bomb Moscow."  Trump shut down the Russian pipeline. Biden okayed it.  Biden is weak and Putin knows it.

Do you mean about Biden saying he's going to implement some devastating sanctions against Putin and never actually doing it? All s**t talk and nothing more?

The sanctions should never have been removed. Which Biden did.

And sanctions should have already been reinstated with more added.
Yes Biden is all talk and not action. And even his talk is weak.

Crimea was historically Russian and remains ethnically so. Kruschchev shifted it into the Ukrainian SSR for numerical reasons in the 1950s, while it was all under central control it hardly mattered. It should have reverted when the Soviet Union was Balkanized.
Exactly WHAT do you expect Biden to do? This is the Cuban missile crisis all over again, His Royal Orangeness had he still been in the WH would have launched the war to end the world or been rooting for his buddy Vlad. Kennedy was smarter than that in 1962, Biden is smarter than that now.

He should have not invited Putin in.  He broadcasted that we will do nothing.  " well if it is just a minor incursion..."   He has been wanting it.  Practically begging for it for weeks.

This does not compare to the Cuban missed crisis. Kennedy won that through strength and diplomacy.  Biden is only showing weakness. And he is not smarter than anyone. Many 20 yrs ago. But he is just a poor old man suffering from dementia. It is elder abuse that his handlers prop him up.

Putin would never have pulled this under Trump. Because Trump was not a weak leader...others knew if you do something, you would pay for it. This post was edited by my2cents at February 24, 2022 8:09 AM MST

What should he do?   Drive oil price back down.  High oil costs fund most of Russias economy.
Open our pipelines back up. Open up the leases again.  Put the sanctions back on (you know the one Trump did and Biden removed)....

Almost every democracy in the World is standing in solidarity with Biden and they are all against Russia invading the Ukraine. The only people that are rooting for Putin is Trump and the GOP. And I think that will come back to bite them because soon Russia will be committing atrocities in the Ukraine and people will wonder how Trump and the GOP could support Putin. Cheers!

No one is rooting for Putin.  Calling things as they are does not mean you are rooting.for something.

ie. In the Superbowl, Bengals scored with a holding play that was not called on them. I was rooting for the Bengals...but they did commit a holding foul.  That is just calling it as it is/was.

Well in a way they are rooting for Putin because they probably want to see Putin succeed to make Biden look bad. 67% of Republican politicians are going around saying Putin is a better leader then Biden instead of  working with Biden and cheering him on (to stop Russia). It is kind of like a championship game that the Saskatchewan Ruff Riders were in. The Ruff Riders were the underdogs but all the Ruff Riders  fans and all the stadium staff got together and cheered for the Ruff Riders and they went on to win the game.  I knew a guy that had one of those championship  rings and he told me that the cheering was what won the game. No. Again pointing out that Biden is projecting weakness and Putin is not, is not supporting/rooting for Putin.    Putin a piece of crap that Biden is not standing up to...

Russia has now invaded the Ukraine and already civilians are being killed so it sure doesn't look like  they are going to be a peace keeping force like Trump said they would be. I included a link to info about the Ukrainian civilian targets Russia has hit so far. Cheers!
