What is the most money you have spent on an article of clothing? Shoes count.

When I purchased this in 1985, it was $150.

I spent $140 for a suit around 1970. Then I hardly ever wore it.

I spent almost $300 on a pair of work shoes (ECCO).   At the time, they were the only ones that fit me and were at least half way comfortable.  Those shoes lasted 3 years before they finally wore out.

Wow.  Seems like a bargain for such a beautiful suit.

For my clothes.........I don't know.  I made all of my clothes when I was young up until I got pregnant the first time.  I bought expensive clothes but was a wizard at finding bargains and sales, as well as negotiating.  If I could find a pulled thread or tiny spot on a piece I wanted........here I went to find the manager.

      It’s not a suit, it’s a uniform.

We use a rather colorful adjective to describe civilians.

Done it again: old ones running out of notches in buckle.

I think nearly £100 - but it was PPE, not everyday wear.

Actually a tough cordura over-suit (one-piece overall) for caving in.

I would spend money like that and more on a decent foul-weather jacket, too; but nothing like that amount for an ordinary garment. I have even bought a few small clothes in young-teenage sizes because I am short, and children's clothes are VAT-free!

(Strictly speaking I think they are VAT-rated, rather than totally exempt, but at 0%.)
