    Add a couple more beans.

    Seriously -

    Add cornstarch+flour to thicken up.
Let it "cook down" longer on LOW heat (stove).
Don't use as much water when cooking.

Beans taste terrible to start with (at last to me).  So if you want better flavor, use more and/or different seasonings.

Your first sentence was what I was looking for. LOL. By the way, I make an excellent thick almost stew using smoked turkey. I do not drain the beans after soaking to ensure I keep the starch in it. Also, while cooking, I will smash some of them to help thicken. Yeah...15 beans just wasn't enough.

Soak the beans first before cooking then cook low and slow.

I do that...and I use more than 15 beans. The whole bag works better.

Use beef broth instead of water also throw in a smoked ham hock That will give it lots of flavor, cook low and slow.

    Use peas instead.

Everybody's talkin' 'bout mung beans, string beans, French beans and runner beans
Soy beans and lima beans, kidney beans and navy beans
    Beans, beans ...
    All we are say-ing
    Is give peas a chance
