Depends on the time of year. In the summer, the "cold" from my kitchen tap is hotter than the hot (sometimes up to 2x). In fact, from late June to early September the only place in this entire house to get "cool" water is in the back bathroom (and even then it's barely tepid).
We don't have cold water after March and then it gets cold again in November. I never turn on the hot tap. My shower is a warm shower using all cold water. I do all laundry in cold. My dishwasher heats its own water. If I hand-wash dishes I heat a little water in the kettle because the tap wastes two gallons of water getting the hot water to the kitchen sink. Some years I just turn off the breaker for the water heater until October/November. I haven't done that yet this year.
