Where were you and what were you doing when you were 21 years old?

I was on a ship in Guam, doing sailor stuff.

Following your format above to answer, I was doing Marine stuff onboard a ship on Western Pacific Deployment throughout Asia for part of that year, then returning to my base in Hawaii for the rest of the year.

Now I find that interesting.  My husband's cousin was in the Navy and stationed (if that is the Navy term) up in the Florida panhandle and we used to sit on the beach and watch those hovercrafts zooming around out in the Gulf.  It was a new thing back then...probably in the 80s.

Yes, “stationed in” is one of the correct terms for what you’re referencing.

Even though hovercraft were being used during my years in the Marine Corps, I personally never served on one.

    (hovercrafts hovercraft)
Just like the word “aircraft”, it’s a singular plural.

Hummm.  Looks like Sam and I made the same mistake.  Did you shoot him a correction?

    Lol, good one.

I do, of course, want to be fair. I wasn’t aware of Sam nor of his online piece; if it’s where you gleaned your information, that’s understandable as to why you went with it. I submit, however, that Sam is incorrect also in referring to them with an s on the end of the word, based on the example I cited with the word aircraft.

Working at one of a series of dead end jobs and dating some loser in what would become a string of failed relationships. Good times!

I think you found a positive path though.  The older we get the smarter and wiser.  :)

It was fun and rewarding. Because I drove the train the miners gave me food from their lunch so that I would give them a spot on the train for the 4 mile ride back to the cage at the end of the day (elevator). Cheers and happy weekend!

Wife and mom. I believe I may have lived in the same southern state my entire 21st year. Lots of moves in those early married years.
