What's the most common reason you use your car horn?

Is it as a warning, to express your opinion of someone else's driving, or something else?

To tell a squirrel to either move it or become road pizza (deer are tone deaf).

You're too nice. I  not only don't warn squirrels, I  swerve in their direction.

Yeah, but it's when you're trying to hit the squirrel that a tree will jump out in front of you.  And 9 times out of 10, insurance companies will side with the tree and find you at fault.  (for something so big, them trees sure can move!)

5 Points. 20 if you honk at an old person walking in front of you, and they have a heart attack.

The San Diego to Minneapolis/Saint Paul route is rife with slow drivers, big rigs, road hogs, etc. There’s not a minute to lose when I’m trying to get to my Snuggie-MacDuggie.

Please guide me and direct me, Baby. Better yet, just give me the exact address of your place and I’ll pop it into the ol’ GPS.

(She likes that. Many of the pet names I’ve conjured up for her really tickle her.)

To tell the nit-wit ahead of me sitting there on her phone that the light is green.

    That's what I called a wake-up call.  ;)

Most often, I use it as a warning that another vehicle is coming too close or that a pedestrian is crossing a street against the light and should be more careful.  I will give a brief tap or two if someone isn't paying attention when the light turns green.  I'm not one to stand on the horn unnecessarily.

By far, one or two quick beeps to wave "Hi!" to someone I know, either a pedestrian or maybe someone in a nearby vehicle.

In my life, in serious driving situations, blaring a horn is a waste of time.
Time that, instead, can be used to avoid a bad event.
    - - I don't care who is at "fault" or if someone drives unlike me - - I just want to avoid anyone, including me, getting hurt.
