What is your most recent example of unexpectedly hearing a song you forgot how much you liked?

Driving home this evening I heard on the car radio Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown" and I got wonderful chills all over.

About a month ago I heard this song again while driving to TO. I had forgot how much I loved it and how it always put me in a good mood. I’ve added  it to my regular playlist so I won’t forget about it again and will hear it often.

I've heard this song before and never paid close attention. Yes, it does have a fun 'aura' to it. Makes me feel good. I'm wondering if he's done some other songs I like.

    Thanks for answering.  :)

He was in the band Outcast who were very popular in the early 2000’s. So you probably know some of his songs from that time.

That is probably it! I have one of Outkast's albums. I guess I've just not paid close attention to band members' names.  :)  Thanks for helping.

Banana Republic by the Boom Town Rats. The Skid Kids at the Community park in Parkville were playing it the other day and it really surprized me because it is not the usual type of music they listen to. Cheers and happy weekend!

Far too many to name. I was busy doing other things yesterday when I first read your question, I told myself I would get back to it later to answer. Just now today as I was about to answer, I’m listening to iHeart Radio, which I have set to play my saved favorites, the vast majority of which are from the 1980s top 100, but also as far back as the 1960s, 1970s, and some in the 1990s, but all across various genres and sub-genres. As such, more and more songs that fit your question have unexpectedly played, causing a dilemma for me as to which “last one” I should put. There are literally thousands in my playlists, and dozens of them I do not hear very often in a year’s time. Every time another gem pops up, I want it to be my singular answer, but that dismisses another equally beloved song. That’s why I’m responding with a LONG list of them.

    “Fame” Irene Cara.

    “Slow Hand” The Pointer Sisters.

    “We Two” Little River Band.

“If Ever I’m In Your Arms Again” Peabo Bryson.

“The Next Time I Fall” Peter Cetera with Amy Grant.

“Be Good, Johnny” Men at Work.

    “Open Arms” Journey.

    “Brandy” Looking Glass.

    “Rock the Boat” Hues Corporation.

    “Hot Stuff” Donna Summer.

    “King of Pain” The Police

“(Our Love’s in) Jeopardy” Greg Kihn Band.

“Method of Modern Love” Hall & Oates.

“Hot Child in the City” Nick Glider.

    “Tender Love” Force MD’s.

“I Want To Be Your Man” Zapp & Roger.

“Something to Talk About” Bonnie Raitt.

    “Cool Change” Little River Band.

    “Should’ve Known Better” Richard Marx.

    “Bust A Move” Young MC.

“Giving It Up For Your Love” Delbert McClinton.

    “Runaway” Del Shannon.

    “To Sir With Love” Lulu.

“The Best of My Love” The Emotions.

    Great stuff here, yes!!

(No surprise I "tuned in" especially to that second song on your list, ha.)

And that Hues Corporation  -- what a nice sound.

    Thanks for answering.  :)

Was that your first time hearing “Rock the Boat” by Hues Corporation?

No, I've heard it a lot. Not nearly enough for me, though. A feel-good song for me -- they blend so well together. to my ears. (And some kicka** instrumental backups, too!)

I like more than several of your songs, too.

I never knew what they were saying until being a member here.
I thought it said, "a bit of my sandwich."

Lol. Now that you mention it, I can see how it would or could sound that way. I don’t think I had ever heard of Vegemite before the song came out.

Lol. I like a lot of their songs. As for the Vegemite reference, I had not yet been to Australia when the song first came out, so I had no direct knowledge of Vegemite. When I finally went to Australia and tasted the stuff was when my aversion to it took immediate hold. It did not, however, change the song for me.

To Sir with Love -- another on your list I particularly like. And how the song was used in the movie was so cool to me.

I should've been more clear in my reply to you. I had looked up the song on my own and listened and then let you know I liked the song, having not heard it. But I'm also glad you posted it here in case others have not have not heard it, too.
    I enjoyed listening.  :)
