I am very glad I watched it. But I've only seen it twice now, yet the cast is superb, too. Blahblahblah- - I could go on and on about it. And we know I have on the site, ha. After seeing the movie, I went on to watch many of Haneke's films. All of them are very good to me. Not a popcorn-and-soda type of movies, though. :)
And, it may help you be more likely to watch it - - I am the only person I know (of those who watched it because I talked about it) who had the extreme reaction I did. They could have 'taken-it-or-left-it.'
I guess I can only speak of my own thoughts about the movie being incredibly superb. :)
I recently watched a new-to-me film (The Leisure Seeker) that I thought was very good; best I've seen in quite a while. Afterwards, I looked it up and found that it was not well-received by critics and has a poor score on Rotten Tomatoes. I thought it was beautiful and had some hilarious moments. Maybe I'll trust Hulu to pick things for me again sometime! ;)
I like to watch movies that I know nothing about - - the original "Cloverfield," for example. I saw a GREAT trailer to it - - it was only about 20 seconds long and showed nothing from the actual film. If I had known what I was walking into . . whew! But that movie is great to me, too -- one of the few movies that I wanted to walk out of a movie because I was so "into" it and getting concerned for the people/characters in the movie. But it remains one of the best movie experiences for me. To me, everyone involved in that movie helped to make a great movie. :)
I'm so weird.

In general, I'm comfortable in movie theaters. But--
I saw director William Friedkin's "Bug" movie at a matinee showing -- and I was literally THE only person in the entire theater! So cool!!! And GREAT movie!!

I haven't yet wanted to pause and repeat - - I rarely do that at home, either. :) Except I did during "Funny Games" -- at one difficult moment, I yelled and swore out loud at the TV, stopped the movie, threw the remote at the TV screen (luckily missing the screen) and went for a 40-minutes walk outside in the late evening before coming back to finish watching,

To SavvyAnsley's 'quite a reaction' comment -- yes. My reaction, built up to that moment, made me also realize that the movie, though disturbing for me, was also a masterpiece of a movie for me in that I was becoming so involved. And amazingly, it's such a quiet polite little movie, though, too. I've never reacted to any other movie like that. If you watch it, afterwards I can tell what moment it was.
I went to see this movie because William Friedkin directed it. Again, he didn't disappoint me at all.
The movie is very unusual to me. I would not classify it a horror genre movie at all. Judd is amazing to me in movie, as is the entire cast. And Harry is hot, ha. (A "3-H Rating" from Welby, there.)

He is way up there on my celeb crush list. He's adorable on the eyes, he is such a talented actor and musician, and he's one of just a few celebs who seem (to me) to be genuine and genuinely good and kind.
I'm not sure what the H scale is, but I hope 3 is the top! :)
