What m2c said. My dad hated cats with a passion, so she set traps. We had mice at our last house, despite having 3 cats in the household. Useless baatards.
Oh no... even I draw the line at rats!!! Those f*ckers are aggressive and vicious and are known to attack species much larger than themselves. If I see one walking down the street, I'm crossing over to the other side! Thank goodness I have only seen one in my lifetime!
We used to get rats (next door neighbour had chickens, the rats were after the feed). The dog made short work of them (mice are beneath her notice, but she'll kill rats).
