What do you think Mr. Spock would say about Trump's Big Lie?

I think if Mr. Spock was asked if Trump's big lie was responsible for the Jan.6th Capital attack he would say - it's only logical. Cheers!

I don’t know.  It depends on how the event, if discussed at all, will be covered in his Earth History class at the Starfleet Academy.  If the US gets into a civil war based on progressives vs. conservatives, the event will get a lot of discussion in history classes of the early 23rd Century.  If that doesn’t happen, a question about it would probably never appear on a test.  Who would win a hot civil war between progressives and conservatives?  It might be a foreign power, so they would be the ones who would get to write the history books.

Well then what would Spock say about the big lie if he went through a worm hole and he traveled in space and time  and wound up in the year 2023 on a pirate ship that was stuck in a mall? There is a Canadian TV series called This show may contain nuts. One of the skits is called Mall Pirates and it has a real catchy theme song.  In case you never heard it - it goes a little something like this - Once there was a pirate ship it sailed the ocean blue - in the Bermuda triangle a worm hole it went through. It traveled space and time - and now they are stuck on a vessel in a mall. Mall pirates - mall pirates  - mall pirates  - mall pirates  - mall pirates. Cheers! If he looked at the issues with the 2020 election, he would say it was illogical that  Biden won.

Why aren’t there any Libertarians in the government of the United Federation of Planets?

They don’t win elections in the future either.

Sorry, that‘s bad, I know, lol.  This whole discussion just reminded me of it.

Are you sure about no Libertarians? It certainly could be argued that the Prime Directive in Star Trek is a Libertarian philosophy.    --Do not interfere with other aliens on their own planets.

Yes, I laughed at that joke when I heard it.  I’m weird like that.  I haven’t seen every Star Trek episode.  Was there an episode where a politician running for office in the United Federation of Planets ran on a platform of privatizing Starfleet?

I don't know, I dont remember any with an election. But I have not seen most of the original series. I prefer the Next Generation.

I do have to wonder why it is called the Big Lie and yet Hillary is still going on about Russia took her election. It is okay if Dems complain but for sure not the other. Can we spell hypocrites? And as for Spock, depends on whether he was Democrat or Republican for his thoughts.

I’ve already visited Star Trek fan pages twice today.  There’s a first time for everything and today‘s my first time visiting Star Trek fan pages.  Thanks, Nanoose, I’m learning lots of new things.

Democrats and Republicans don’t exist in the future (good riddance), so the Star Trek writers have a very optimistic view of the future!  Spock is neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

    The major parties are:

    ·         Federation Unity Party, “We March Toward the Stars”

    ·         Planetary Protection Party,  “Federation Now, Federation Forever”

    ·         United Colonial Front “United in Struggle, Together in Victory”

    ·         Alliance for Planetary Freedom “Securing Today Against Tomorrow’s Threats”

    Other minor but noteworthy parties:

    ·         Sons of Charon

    ·         People’s Peace Movement

And unlike some of our friends, they’re not obsessed with Trump. This is a good thing.

There was a type of far right Republican in the Star Trek future but they were called Ferengis. Cheers!

I suggest everyone are hypocrites of one kind or another, including every human being.

I would agree but only referring to that topic at this point.

True I expanded beyond the topic there
I can spell hypocrite and I've heard, read, and seen many Republicans be hypocrites at times, too, along with Democrats at times, too.
I only meant that both parties (and, most likely, all of us humans) use that word and fail to see it in themselves. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at March 10, 2023 10:56 AM MST

Hillary actually stopped saying that around 2017, so you’re only about six years late.

No she did not. She was still talking about it after the Mueller report and that was not relased until 2019....

The point, in case you missed it, is that she isn't still talking about it.  Trump, on the other hand, will continue to talk about it until he draws his last breath.

But she is still talking about it. She does not get the say media coverage as Trump.
