To do basic taxes, yes, most tax places (HR Block, Jackson Hewitt etc) have a short class you can take. (A few weeks) Basic taxes are pretty simple just fill in the blanks.
You need to be registered as an Electronic Return Originator (ERO) with the IRS to get licensed to use professional tax software (I use Intuit Proseries) and electronically sign and file returns for paying clients.
They give you an Electronic Filing ID number or EFIN. Every legitimate tax company, large like H&R Block and small like mine, is a licensed ERO and holds one or more EFINs.
I am sure there is a form or something you have to file to be able to efile for others. I know some people who help others file but I don't know the details for certain. I have filed my own for my business for about 15 yrs. And have filed for my kids since they became old enough to file.
Six years at H&R Block, including teaching (but never taking) the basic tax class plus intermediate and advanced ones, another six years at a local tax company where I learned to do taxes for corporations, partnerships, and estates, and a year at a CPA firm before going on my own.
I became an Enrolled Agent (IRS credential) along the way and was always good at attracting clients.
With a couple hundred loyal clients and referrals plus advertising on Google and Yelp, my business is (thankfully) thriving, even in the offseason.

Wow, you are very qualified. I don't have 12 years left in my life to work towards anything. Unless I can learn it quickly, it's not for me. If I had known how the last 17 years of my life would unfold I would have done things very differently. Now it's too late fo everything.

When I was young my dream job was to be a music producer. Now, I don't really have a dream job. I am just happy to work and be able to pay my bills and help others when I can. Though, I have had many a customer tell me, I was "living the life" when they realized I get to paint daily and work for myself. Lol
Pilot. Then when I received a sharp reality check in my teens (the eyesight wasn't good enough, I'm short sighted), I set my sights a little lower - air traffic control. I failed the RAAF medical.
I actually held a "dream job" for a short period. I worked at the snack stand at the local arena. There was any variety of acts or entertainment that you could think of. It was really busy at the snack stand during intermission but not usually when the acts were performing.
There was all the popular singers or groups. There was basketball (NCAA tournaments), hockey, arena football, rodeo, wrestling, monster trucks, ice shows, the circus, Sesame Street Live. According to a local news station, "The Grateful Dead performed at the venue 13 times between 1990 and 1995", which is the period that I worked there, and "The Trans-Siberian Orchestra have performed at the arena more than any other act, appearing over 20 times."
I got to see any of it that I wanted for free. Not a big "dream" because it was minimum wage, but a lot of fun.
My job at the snack stand was cashier. Reading up on recent activities at the arena, I see that it has gone cashless. I guess that "dream job" no longer exists.
