Who do you think would make a good President?

This was supposed to be a serious question, someone on either side of the isle.

    I would pick either

    John Quincy Adding Machine

    or

    Waylon A. Skroob.

I think Michelle Obama would make a good president and so would Pete Buttigieg. Cheers and happy weekend!

She has no political experience and no interest in running. Otherwise, she’s perfect.

What political experience did Trump have?

EDIT:  At least Michelle Obama can carry on an intelligent conversation.   This post was edited by Spunky at June 21, 2023 8:09 AM MDT

But he wanted to run and be president. She doesn’t.

That's because she's smarter than he is.  Come to think of it, so are my sister's two dogs. This post was edited by Spunky at June 23, 2023 7:35 PM MDT

Be that as it may, it’s why he ran and she won’t. It was just my response to a comment.

But I disagree with you on one count.

Trump is a lot of things, but he is not a stupid person. Nobody who achieves election to the presidency is stupid. Most people aren’t capable of doing that.

I'm not sure if stupid is the word.  He is manipulative. is well aware of how gullible many people are and uses it to his advantage.  He depends on the ignorance and base behavior of his acolytes and uses it to his advantage.

And those are characteristics of a smart person.

But smarts are not always put to positive use. Hitler was brilliant.

I don't know how smart or not Trump is. During his first presidential campaign a young man told me that, in his circle they say that no matter the topic of the conversation or discussion, Trump will throw a dead cat into the middle of it as a distraction. I was amazed, that's exactly what I had thought of him during the first season of The Apprentice.

Is he smart or a bully? (or both?)

    Probably both.

As I said, nobody capable of being elected POTUS is a stupid person.

I don't want to name names, but the person I like is a moderate who doesn't make promises without plans to achieve them.

I would vote for this ticket:

    President Atticus Finch

    Vice President Edith Bunker

I watched To Kill A Mocking Bird yesterday with my mom via TCM.  Again.

    Very cool.  :)
It's been a long while since I've watched it.

I remember being especially moved by a small scene with Scout and Atticus - - they are sitting on the house front porch and I believe she is sharing with him something that happened at school.

I only now noted your description under your question.
And my other answer is, to me, a serious answer.
Those two fictional characters are my favorite fictional characters. And I do think the two of them together would make a good team --  Finch's Caring and Law-and-Order Smarts, and Bunker's incredible-to-me People Smarts (she 'reads' people incredibly well and seems to always find their admirable qualities).

But, more to your question, I would have voted for Tulsi Gabbard in the other election.
And I'm always open to voting for a Libertarian Party candidate.

But the Electoral College system mitigates against any candidate other than the Republican or Democratic nominee winning, so third party candidacies are basically pointless.

I get it, yeah. And I'll have to use some time to research on your assertion here. But I would think that if the two major USA parties have poor (to me, at least) candidates, which certainly happens for me, then there may be a chance that enough other people may agree with me.
    :)

(My middle name is Pollyanna, maybe.)

It’s never happened in roughly 235 years. Third party candidates have influenced the outcome by siphoning votes from the major party candidates.

For example, H Ross Perot helped Clinton get elected in 1992 and Ralph Nader helped Dubya Bush win in 2000.
