Did you know that Trump's PAC has spent $40.2 million on legal costs to defend himself and his associates in the first half of this year?

That's more than Save America — the PAC — raised in the second quarter of 2023 and brings the group's total spending on Trump's post-presidential legal woes to around $56 million.

***

"The political action committee that former President Donald J. Trump is using to pay his legal bills faced such staggering costs this year that it requested a refund on a $60 million contribution it made to another group supporting the Republican front-runner, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The decision signals a potential money crisis for Mr. Trump, who has so far refused to pay his own voluminous bills directly and has also avoided creating a legal-defense fund for himself and people who have become entangled in the various investigations related to him."

That's a lot of money that was foolishly spent. Trump will probably go to jail anyway. Cheers!

I think it's unethical to spend money sent to a political action fund for legal defense.

I agree.  I don't contribute to political campaigns - none of them.  It's ridiculous that campaigning for the next election begins almost immediately after being sworn in.  I have better places to put my money that will benefit those who really need the help.

In Canada campaigns only last 36 days from start to finish. Cheers!

That's more than enough time to campaign.

As it should be, but even when our elected officials are in Washington, DC, they still can't get anything accomplished.

I disagree. The republicans accomplished an amassing thing.  They sold Kevin McCarthy's used lip bomb for 100K. Cheers!

I knew it was a lot. It seems unfair that a supposed billionaire can use use donations from his supporters to pay for personal legal fees for crimes he deliberately committed. I wonder if all those trusting people sending their $5 and $10 donations to fund his campaign know where the money is being spent. He keeps on exploiting people and they keep supporting him anyway. I don't understand it.

I don't think they care what the money is used for.  They think they're supporting his candidacy and that's all that counts.  If their money keeps him out of jail, it keeps him in the running.  No one said his small donation contributors were smart.

I guess they don't mind the PAC paying Melania's hair stylist $108K for consulting, or Melania $155K for a speech, or Trump's valet $30K. Just ordinary election expenses, not grifting, right?

Absolutely correct.  However, now that Justin Trudeau and his wife are getting a divorce, maybe it will pay for Melania's to travel to Canada so she can make googly eyes at Trudeau again.

I don't think the Pac would give her money to  travel to Canada so she could make googly eyes at Trudeau. But if she tells them she wants to go to Canada to make googly eyes at Trudeau so she can find out what he knows about Hunter Bidens laptop - they will give her millions and then ask her if  she needs another million to buy some flowers.

I just thought of a love poem that Melania might send to Trudeau.

Roses are red - my husband is orange and that is why I only have the  googly eyes for you.

    Cheers!

It is expensive to fight a weaponized DOJ.

Four of the six cases he is fighting are not being brought by the DOJ.

Whether it is a state DOJ or the US DOJ is not the point.  The point is our justice system has been weaponized against the leading political opposition and his supporters.

There are many more cases than just six.  What cases do you think the DOJ is not involved in? (They do not have to bring the case to be involved)

So, this lifelong criminal is just a victim of political persecution.

The cases currently against him and his supporters are being politically prosecuted.

You may find it funny, but many of us do not and find it disgusting.

I find it hilarious that anyone can believe that Trump is innocent. But somehow people  can ignore mountains of evidence and claim he is a victim.

There once were people who believed Nixon was innocent as well.

    How did that work out?

Maybe some of them are still insisting it was a witch hunt, but Nixon reigned for the good of the country. Trump doesn't care about the country.
