What's the point of using an AR-15 type rifle if you can't hit your target?

The weapon used is of interest, but to report "AR-15 type" weapon is backdoor hyperbole.  AR-15 is not a category of rifle.  It is a specific rifle.   Why shoot any gun if you can't hit your target?

    I am on two counts.
    1. Why did it take so long? He's a big, open target all of the time and his ego-stoking rallies aren't new. If anyone was going to assassinate him it would have been while he was President.
    2. Most of the gun nuts and would-be assassins are RWNJs, ie Trumpicans.

The shots got nowhere near him and it's not even verified that they were real. Nobody else was hit and no bullet holes were found either. Blank cartridges? This could well be an attempt by the Trump team to paint him as the "victim" for the sympathy vote. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at July 14, 2024 5:34 AM MDT

Proves is not the Right wing that is violent....

It was absolutely real bullets there was an attendee who died and 2 more injured.
No where near him????  It hit his ear.   After the debate, Trump was winning, no need for any sympathy votes.

The shooter knew it too, Biden can't win via policy so gotta go the violent route.

JFK was killed by a SS agent drawing his weapon to shoot BACK at Oswald. This may well have been the case here.
A genuine assassination attempt would have worked - aim would have been for center mass, on His Royal Orangeness that's a target too big to miss.

The right wing is absolutely violent, it wasn't a bunch of socialists who stormed the Capitol on January 6 2021 when His Royal Orangeness threw a tantrum and refused to accept the umpire's call, like the little boy who takes his bat and ball and goes crying home to his mom when the decision goes against him. The Oath Keepers, Proud Boys et Al are the cadre for his new era Brownshirts - it wasn't the left who absolutely used the words "unified reich" in this campaign either.

Trump scares me. Nazi Germany wasn't the juggernaut that the US is. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at July 14, 2024 5:42 AM MDT

The shooter was on a roof....he got several shots off. The 2nd shot got the ear. Returning of fire would not have hit the people behind Trump.

People seen him and tried to point him out to police minutes before but were ignored.  There are also reports that requests for a larger SS detail were denied by Biden.

How do you know a larger SS detail was requested and denied?  Biden doesn't control the Secret Service.

A House Republican lawmaker is alleging that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas denied stronger Secret Service protection for former President Trump multiple times.

Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., made the accusation hours after Trump was grazed by a bullet at his Saturday Pennsylvania rally.

"I have very reliable sources telling me there have been repeated requests for stronger secret service protection for President Trump. Denied by Secretary Mayorkas," Waltz wrote on X.

Last time I checked, Sec Mayorkas works for POTUS.

He works for the Biden administration...the people did not elect Mayorkas. He was appointed by Biden. And can be removed by Biden....he works for Biden.

Doesn't prove that it is not the right wing that is violent - the shooter was a registered republican.

He donated to Dems.  Republicans do not give money to Dems Act Blue.   But people do register as the other pa=y in order to vote in the primary of the other party.   He got to vote against Trump in the primary.

I have voted in the Dem primary....I was a Republican at the time. (I do not have to register with any party in my state we have open primaries)

Virtually every news source reports Cook was a registered Republican, but feel free to call him a Democrat because he donated the paltry sum of $15 to a Democratic cause three years ago.

And yes, I know, as I just said he donated to ActBlue....Republicans do not donate to ActBlue.  But Dems and Reps will register with the opposite party in order to vote in their primaries to hopefully get rid of the most conservative or most liberal candidates easier.

If I still lived in my home state of IL, I would be a registered Dem for this purpose because my general election vote would not matter....but my primary vote could very well make a difference there.  How do you think Haley won NH?  It was not Reps voting for her. (Yes, I know it is easier to switch parties there than most)  I believe we had a former member here, explain that he as a Dem or Ind voted many times in the Rep primary in NH.
