Is this the first of many campaign promises Trump will break?

Trump just admitted in an interview with Time magazine that it will be difficult for him to reduce consumer prices - contrary to statements he made on the campaign trail this year. I think this is the first of many campaign promises he will break – his tariff promises will be another one. Cheers!

Most of what trump "promised" he will not be able to do.  Some because they are impossible, others because he only said them to get people to vote for him.  When trump opens his mouth, his brain is rarely "in gear".

You make the assumption that what fills is cranium his actually a brain.

Edit:  incorrect word "is" to "his" This post was edited by Spunky at December 14, 2024 12:41 PM MST

If you count the promise to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of being elected, no, it is not.

He will be able to do something once he is in power.

Got to get Biden out of the way.

You do realize that Biden directed all of the remaining funds for Ukraine to be allocated before his term ends so that Trump cannot withhold them.

Russia just intensified their attack in Ukraine. So sarcastically said – good job Donald. Cheers and happy weekend!

Ukraine used our long range missiles to hit inside Russia.  They cannot do that without US help.  Biden is in the way of peace.

I'm sure if he does break those promises, certain klan members will find an excuse to blame Biden.

Maybe Trump will get a dog so he has another excuses. My dog ate my plan on how to lower food prices. My dog ate my plan on how to end the war in Ukraine. My dog ate my plan for a better health plan. And then to make his excuses more believable he would add that Biden’s dog was vicious and it would savagely attact people. Cheers and happy weekend!

I doubt he'd get a dog now, he'd be too concerned illegal immigrants would eat it. "Let me tell you, folks, we've a real disaster on our hands. The illegals, they're not just crossing the border, they've eaten my dog and my economic plans! I mean, he was the best dog - tremendous dog, folks - and the best plans, the greatest plans, but they just gobbled them up. My dog, gone. My tax cuts? Gone. The best trade deals? Gone. It's sad, really. Nobody does plans like me, nobody loves dogs like me, and now they're eating both."

Once his policies go into effect, prices will start to drop.

    Here is Trump's answer:
Look, they got them up. I'd like to bring them down. It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard. But I think that they will. I think that energy is going to bring them down. I think a better supply chain is going to bring them down. You know, the supply chain is still broken. It's broken....

When Trump was running he said he would bring down food prices quickly and easily – now he is singing a different tune. The only similarity is he didn’t have a plan on how to bring down food prices then – and he doesn't have a plan on how to do it now – all he has is excuses. Cheers and happy weekend!

Again, his policies will take care of that.
Drive down the cost of fuel/energy and costs of other things will come down.  Fix the supply chains issues and costs will come down.   And those are things he will be addressing on day 1, you know the 1 day he will be a dictator by securing the border and drilling for oil.

    These will drive down prices.....

Part of his plan involves big tariffs. Prices will rise, SHARPLY. The law of supply and demand doesn't change when the government does, tariffs will cause the supply chain to grind to a sickening halt (the US DOESN'T produce semiconductors in quantity), killing supply without reducing demand. This is ninth grade economics, did you study it?

The majority of food made in the US will be effected by tariffs. America in ports a heck of a lot of Pot Ash from Canada and Pot ash is a vital ingredient in making fertilizers for growing food. Cheers!

I also found out that we import a lot of farm equipment. Canada is the main supplier.

Not to worry.  There won't be anything to plant when all the immigrants who harvest our food are sent back to their home countries.

EDIT:  After doing some research, this is what I found:

"Both countries rely on each other as a main source of imported energy, including oil, natural gas, clean electricity, uranium ...  Along with exporting crude oil, Canada also sends clean electricity south of the border.

"Oil is the top U.S. import from Canada ... mainly crude petroleum, cars and petroleum gas. Canada also exported services south of the border in 2020 namely computer and information services, transportation and financial services ... Other products the U.S. imports from the country include wood and other commodities."

What some people don't understand is that all oil isn't the same and different types of oil need different refineries. So we both import and export oil because of where the source is in proximity to the appropriate refinery. Just building new refineries and pipelines is a whole other set of logistical issues.
