What do you consider cold weather?

Even as a Minnesotan, I haven't seen four feet of snow. But maybe that's because we are equipped to deal with it and it doesn't pile up.

All it takes is cold air mixing in with an atmospheric river and the snow here quickly piles up.  A little higher up from here they can get over 10 feet of snow in 24-36 hours.  

Yes, I've been in that kind of cold too. I'm a little less comfortable in it now compared to my younger days.  I start getting cold at double digits below zero Fahrenheit. That's about -23C.

Yeah I wouldn’t want to be in that kind of weather anymore. Our winter weather rarely gets below zero so I’m pretty spoild. Thought I would add a little bragging - some of the bulb flowers are up in my area. Cheers!

That kind of service is priceless. 

You bet it is.  I'm in a 55+ community and they clear the common areas and roadways but not individual driveways.  Having been an apartment denizen my entire life, I didn't give any thought to what I would have to do now that I own a house, especially since I have no equipment for outdoor things that need to be done.  I did hook up with a landscaper who charged me $30 a week to mow, which is about standard here, and he did do a big fall cleanup.  The woman who lived here was a "naturalist" and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to what she planted.  I just had the guy cut back everything I couldn't identify.  In the Spring, I'll see what comes up and then I'll have a better idea of what I want to do.  There are some Amish people who you can hire to shovel snow, but I have no idea what they charge.  This neighbor and his wife have been a Godsend and have turned out to be really good friends - people I know I can count on in an emergency, even though my sister lives about 20 minutes away. In Minnesota 

40 degrees = leave your jacket in the car
30 degrees = think about wearing long pants
20 degrees = jacket and long pants,  but save the hat and gloves for when it's cold

You definitely live in a very cold state, strong woman.  Do you get a lot of snow and ice? 

Yes, we do. It usually melts in April.

Do you enjoy the snow?

No, I do not. Many people look forward to activities such as skiing and ice fishing, but I am not one of them. 

I'm with you on that, however when I was younger I enjoyed skiing, just getting there was too much work. 

Unfortunately I gave away every single pair of blue jeans and most of my warm clothing to the homeless before Christmas. Been sick and unable to get to the store to buy more, I am freezing in my summer pants,  Burrrrrrr ((((())))). 

Maybe thinking about how much your donation helped will keep you warm.

Yes, that works to a point, until I walk outside. lol

I'm back again. I've looked at your Edward Hopper "Automat" name/logo/painting several times over last day or so. One of my favorite paintings by him. So nice to me.

Agreed, enjoy his work and well, evokes so many feelings and thoughts in everything he does.  Some kind of cosmic connection with the heart of the artist that jumps off the canvas in into my own heart.  The very first painting I remember doing that to me was "The Old Guitarist," by Picasso.  Had viewed it in books but when I saw it in person, the real deal....wow, I stood there mesmerized for a very long time. 

Amazing how that works; how some paintings which can stir the heart so deeply.
