Why do Liberals think that Trump supporters are stupid?

This is an actual question from a Trumpican - and demands a SERIOUS answer.

Here's what the majority of anti-Trump voters honestly feel about Trump supporters en masse:

That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent university, intent on scamming poor people, you thought "Fine."

That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said "Okay."

That when you heard him relating the story of an elderly guest of his country club, an 80-year-old man, who fell off a stage and hit his head, to which Trump replied: "'Oh my God, that's disgusting,' and I turned away. I couldn't - you know, he was right in front of me, and I turned away. I didn't want to touch him. He was bleeding all over the place. And I felt terrible, because it was a beautiful white marble floor, and now it had changed color. Became very red." You said, "That's cool!"

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/01/americas-first-post-text-president/549794/

That when the 'Central Park Five' were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn't commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said "That makes sense."

That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening (sometimes going beyond threatening) to beat up anybody who says otherwise.
https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/democracy/reports/2018/06/04/451570/confronting-cost-trumps-corruption-american-families/

What you don't get, Trump supporters, is that our succumbing to frustration and shaking our heads, thinking of you as stupid, may very well be wrong and unhelpful, but it's also ... hear me ... charitable.

Because if you're NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering. Sinister, even.

It amazes me to know that there are so many people willing to overlook all of Trump's shortcomings.  Things they would never overlook in their own personal relationships.

How about "intentionally blind".  The far right has always put money and power ahead of everything else.  That's their "motto" (in any country).

    As to why -

The generation of people in US who remember what the far right will do (e.g. Hitler, Stalin, the USSR) have largely died out.  The new generations don't know totalitarianism (not even the definition of the word), or the true horrors of war that inevitably comes when fighting against tyranny (they think it's like what they see in movies).
The new generations want bookoo bucks, while doing as little work as possible (they idolize the wealthy).
They demand instant gratification, but don't want to lift a finger to obtain it (but will whine and complain loudly if they don't get what they want).
They crave personal attention - "Look at me!  Do what I do! I know what's best for everyone! (just look at what's being posted on social media sites).
They firmly believe that they have the right to say or do anything they desire without considering any harm it may cause to others (deriding or slandering others for being different is completely acceptable).
However, they only want these things for themselves (screw other people, I deserve this!).

Is it any wonder that a majority of people (regardless of their political affiliation) choose a leader who mirrors this?

(I am by no means saying that the far left is better.)

It's not stupidity.  Perhaps it all comes down to the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats want to help everybody ; Republicans want to help themselves.
