Do you Trust this man with your private information?

The world’s richest man may now have access to the confidential personal information of every taxpayer in the United States.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Friday granted Elon Musk and his minions at the faux-agency DOGE full access to the Treasury’s massive federal payment system.

It’s not at all clear what he plans to do with this unprecedented access. But I figure because he is working for a very spiteful and greedy man it won’t be anything good. Cheers!

He has your personal information because you gave it to him.  I did not authorize him or his teeny-bopper hackers to have MY personal information.  That is a breach of my privacy.  Bad enough I have to worry about foreign government hackers, now I have to worry about my own government - and they don't even have to hack - they've been given full access.

They are not worried about you or me.  Unless we are receiving some of the money USAID is wasting.   I, personally or professionally, am not receiving any foreign aid.   I doubt you are, but I could be wrong.

USAID (United States Agency of International Development) is the agency that distributes most foreign aid.   It is not the IRS, etc.

It starts with USAID and you think it will stop there?  If you do, that's pretty naive thinking.  They have access to more than just USAID or are you unaware of that?

He has access to the Treasury Department payment system. That would include much more than foreign aid and much more information than users of PayPal provide. But, if a person is in favor of a totalitarian government, that would not concern them.

Treasury Department access would include Social Security and Medicare payments, to both of which I am entitled.  It also wouldn't concern them if they don't receive any of the payment which the Treasury Department makes.  I am not positive, but I believe that would also include income tax information and payments.

Yes,  I am aware and patiently waiting for them to rid the gov of billions or trillions of waste in all the departments.

This is what most Americans have claimed to have wanted for decades.
But it is what Trump voters knew was coming and we voted for it.   We knew DOGE was coming and Musk would be in charge  of it.  There is talk of Ron Paul helping as well.   :)

Trump voters wanted the president and a non-elected head of a fake department to usurp the powers given to Congress in the Constitution? Sounds about right.

We want him to cut the waste.

You realize the only thing Musk has done at this point is tell the American people how our money is being wasted. He did an audit.  He reports to Mrs. Wiles and Trump or his appointments (Secretaries approved by Senate) choose what to do with that info. In this case, USAID is now under Sec Rubio's control.

This UNELECTED billionaire has been given carte blanche to take a razor to spending WITHOUT referring to Congress, and bragged about putting USAID "through the shredder". This means that those nations will be looking elsewhere for support and China is gathering as many signatories to their BaR as possible. Trump is driving current and potential allies and trading partners to China.

He an appointed advisor to the President.  He does not need approval for that appointment.
It is government waste and money laundering.  It needs cut.

Obama first created the department. He called it USDS, United States Digital Services.  Biden made appointments to the department as well. Also without re referring to Congress.  Trump appointed Musk and renamed the department DOGE Service,  Department Of Government Effiecency Service.
Musk has no power to himself.  He is an advisor.  Any changes made to USAID will be by Sec Rubio.

Wrong, factually incorrect, that's almost Trumpian in terms of how big a lie that is,
The Foreign Assistance Act was signed into law by President Kennedy in 1961, and he created the United States Agency for International Development immediately thereafter. It's been providing humanitarian aid to developing nations for sixty years.
Deprived of that, those nations will look elsewhere and will probably cozy up to China - providing land for military bases, access to natural resources etc.
Trump is making the US an international pariah, and you'll end up with no allies, no overseas military bases etc. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at February 8, 2025 7:04 AM MST

What does US Digital Services ( now renamed DOGE) have to do with Foreign Assistance Act.

    USDS was created by Obama.

USAID is now under Sec of State Rubio as Acting Director.

USDS isn't even remotely close to DOGE, their remits don't intersect. What Trump did was unilaterally close USDS and invent an entirely new and very different department - and one of the first things it did was take an axe to what Kennedy instituted more than sixty years ago. That's the department to which I thought you were referring, given that USDS is no more akin to DOGE than is USAID. And unless Elon is lying (who woulda thunk it?), Rubio is going to be in charge of nothing in particular.

I have been wondering about what Trump/Musk can do with all the personal info they now have.

I’m thinking they could remove people from the voter list. And or cancel peoples SS checks.

    Cheers!

Again, not the same department he is working on at the moment.

He is working in the United States Agency of International Development....

    Not IRS, SS etc.

Simply because I have done nothing that needs to be hidden doesn't mean that I want Musk's teeny boppers having access to my personal information.  Who knows what information they will keep for themselves to use against others at a later date.  It's enough I have to worry about foreign hackers, I certainly shouldn't have to worry that people who work for my own government will be hacking me or, worse, giving that information to foreign hackers.

I assume you don't want to hide your personal data then? Go ahead and give us your name, social security number, date of birth, bank information and tax returns. Nothing to fear if they fall into certain hands, right?

Everybody who isn't in lockstep with the tangerine Hitler should fear Elon and with good reason - he's trying to make them unpersons. Musk knows how that works, his native land made 90% of the population unpersons for not being white.
