Do you think Trump will like the taste of tariff free crow?

A day after the March 4th tariffs went into effect – Trump called Canada and said he was going to lift the tariffs on some Canadian products and Canada said – do what you want to do - but we are going to keep all of our retaliatory tariffs in place until you lift all of the tariffs on Canadian products.
I think a few other countries are sick and tired of Trump’s deals and Trump will be eating a lot of crow.

Cheers

he's pissing off other countries AND the American people.  Providing we still have elections, the republicans now in office may be out of a job com reelection time.

Those that dare to repudiate His Royal Orangeness are being threatened. With being "primaried" by the White House, and with PHYSICAL violence against themselves and their families by his base. It's Germany in 1934 all over again. They're his Sturmabteilung and I TOLD YOU SO. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at March 9, 2025 8:03 AM MDT

RINOs and center Dems are always threatened with a primary.  That is how it works.
If anyone is threatening physical violence they should be arrested and put in prison.

I could be wrong, but it looks like the tariff games are being used to manipulate the stock market. Example: Announce a tariff that will hurt the auto industry. Auto stocks go down. Investors buy stock at reduced prices. Pause those tariffs. Stock prices go back up.

I doubt if Trump cares what the trade war does to the average American or Canadian as long as the rich get richer.

Yeah Trump never did care what the trade war will do to the average family. And now it looks like he doesn't even care if kids develop Rickets. Trump just put a 250% tariff on Canadian dairy products.
It might be a manipulating the market thing but I think with Trump it is a – do what I say or else type of thing. Cheers and happy weekend!

If CA puts a tarriff, USA puts reciprocal tariffs on CA.   I got no problems with that.
Maybe CA next PM will do better...bye bye Trudeau.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of those is subject to a quota, particularly for those industries which are subsidized in the US. The bottom line being "don't dump crap on us that we don't need".
That is NOT what His Royal Orangeness is doing. He's applying tariffs across the board from the word go, and this is going to seriously hurt international trade in general and the US in particular. A lot of Canadian retailers and consumers are boycotting American-made and this will escalate.
Google "Smoot-Hawley tariff act", since its obvious that you never studied modern history.

I know they are subject to quotas.
Point is tarriffs on US will result in reciprocal tariffs on said country.

CA has long been manipulating the Tarriffs Rate Quotas to prevent US imports.  That is what Trump is trying to address.

Missing the point as usual. Canada, which doesn't subsidize its dairy industry, has a quota to protect its local industry from the dumping of excess from the US which DOES. (There's some waste that Elon can go after if he's serious about saving money rather than shutting down dissent).
Trump is imposing tariffs on all imports to the US including products and commodities which the US cannot source or produce locally in sufficient quantity to satisfy demand. Potash. Lumber. Light crude (the oil drilled in Texas and the Gulf of MEXICO is heavy crude, much harder and more expensive to refine into gas). Aluminium. The quota system is a form of subsidy to CA dairy producers, even though it is not a direct payment system.

CA is CALIFORNIA, not Canada and I seriously doubt that California has a PM or assesses tariffs on domestic goods.

CA is not the only abbreviation for Canada but it is indeed a commonly used abbreviation.

CAN is usually used for international sports

CDN, is used on international automobiles stickers

CAD, Canadian Dollar (what part of that means Canada?)

    ISO 3166-2:CA
is the entry for Canada in ISO 3166-2, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

All internet sites for Canada are use CA

    ie. https://www.amazon.ca/
    https://www.canada.ca/en.html

Canada doesn't export much in the way of dairy products to the US so this one doesn't matter much. Except in the form of "organic" products because Canada doesn't use GMO and very little in the way of pesticides - the climate takes care of those every winter. Yeah Trump probably doesn't have a plan on how to win/survive a tariff war. But Canada does and I think Canada will be Trump’s Waterloo.

So being a proud Canadian I would like to say to the World – your welcome. Cheers!

I liked it but that part about us not being friendly anymore bummed me out a little. Trump has soured the relationship between the Joe 6-packs of Canada and the Joe 6-packs of America. So to help bring back the relationship we had before Trump – I ask the question – If you poke us in the eye do we not say – ay.

    Cheers!

It's the two governments that aren't friendly any more. I have not observed any individual citizens being unfriendly to each other. I saw a video the other day of an American border town meeting a ferry from Canada with cheers and waving Canadian flags. The part of the song you should appreciate is recognizing that Canada has been made much more prominent on the world stage.
