Sometimes I think Trump is the kind of monster that would take delight in seeing that photo. Or maybe he figures he is doing the world a favor by getting rid of the excess population. Cheers!

Trump has no conscience, therefore, this wouldn't affect him in the least.  I doubt he would be affeted by seeing an American child in that condition.  If he did, he wouldn't be trhying to end Medicaid or SNAP.  Republicans are only interested in children while they're in the womb.  After that, it's not their concern.

Recently, Mehmet Oz's granddaughter fainted during his swearing in ceremony in the Oval Office. The cameras were turned off while the child was attended to. She was fine and after the incident Trump provided her with ice cream, a tour of the office and some gifts. If you are a white  white-skinned child born into a privileged family, you matter to Trump.
The contrast with his treatment of starving children in Africa is shocking.

Edited to clarify to those who think a Turk and his granddaughter who is half -Turkish are not considered white. I wouldn't want to distract from my point. Having been to Turkey, I can safely say that Turks are by all appearances, white-skinned.

Which makes him Middle Eastern and classified as white by the Census Bureau. But if you say he's not white, I know better than to argue with.

Census bureau calls Mexicans white as well.  Somehow the leftist media do not call them white.... This post was edited by my2cents at April 22, 2025 6:15 AM MDT

Mexican is not a race. Mexicans and other Hispanics can be any race.

I have not heard the media specifically call out Mexicans as people of color. You may be confusing hearing darker skinned migrants who may or may not be Mexicans being called people of color by the media. In any case, it has  nothing to do with the point I was making,

But as usual, thank you for your thoughtful, insightful and totally respectful, non-condescending comments. This post was edited by Jane S at April 22, 2025 12:25 PM MDT

Link to video of MSNBC referring to Latinos as POC, she says it at very begining of the video.

One 5 year old video - you must have had to really search for that. And it doesn't say what you think it says. Saying some people of color are Latino is not the same as referring to all Latinos as people of color. And you originally said the media does not call Mexicans white. This video didn't mention Mexicans.

What a waste of time. Go ahead and say whatever you want. I, however, will not say what I think in order to save you the trouble of deleting it.

Took me all of 2 minutes.   I know there are more...they do it all the time.

Does not mention Mexicans?  It directly mentions Latinos....

Here is another this from Feb 2021.  Also MSNBC

"One of the things you say is there's a sect of Latinos who don't want to be identified by their race, and they want to join, and be accepted by, the majority. But the majority is changing. By 2044, there will be no majority in this country. So why such the desire, you think, to be White adjacent?" Cross asked Lopez.

Lopez noted that there would be no majority as long as White people who were not Hispanic continued to be counted as a separate ethnicity from Hispanic Americans.

Appearing alarmed, he stated that if Hispanics "who think that they are White" are lumped with other Whites, then White people would remain the dominant group and "increase their proportion" across the country over the next four decades...."

I can't argue with that because I have no idea what you're  going on about. This is a very weird response to me calling Mehmet Oz's granddaughter white.  What is wrong with you? This post was edited by Jane S at April 23, 2025 11:36 AM MDT

So you agree that the media does count/refer to Latinos/Mexicans as people of color?

    That was the point.

First and foremost, I am not responsible for what the media says, or more appropriately, what you think they say. I have not heard the media use the terms Latino and person of color interchangeably. That does not mean that it never happened, only that it is not my observation. You have posted some things that you think show that, but I don't think they do. If they did use the terms interchangeably, it has nothing to do with me or my beliefs and I have no idea why you would think I want to defend it. In the same vein, I do not feel the need to agree with everything that every liberal politician or media or person says or does. I think for myself. I am very tired of you continuing to drag out pointless discussions. Just keep in mind that a non - response is not an agreement and when you try to imply that it is, that is disrespectful to me and to other members. You have certainly caused me to spend less time here, so if that is your goal - well done!

It has to do with the topic.  Generally, media does not refer to Turkish, Middle Eastern,  Latino etc as white.  No matter what the census bureau registers them as. This post was edited by my2cents at April 23, 2025 1:48 PM MDT

I would say that it would be shocking treatment if it was done by anyone other than Trump.  Nothing he does surprises me.

He is not trying to end Medicaid or SNAP benefits.   Having a work requirement for healthy work aged people is not trying to end anything.  It is about responsibility.
