Mine is "Mary Did You Know"....I like Kenny Rogers and Wynonna's version best.

    Glis, it's "edgy".

  • That's not edgy. Not even slightly.

    Why?
Angels are embracing you with their whole being.  It is a very unusual manner of depiction.  Thus. Edgy.

I like all three of those, too.
I've always liked this version of the song by Sting, too!

It seems like it is disturbing to GLIS for some reason, Welb.  Cannot comprehend why.

  • I like a lot of them.  Just none of that Maria Carey crap or the modern gospel/R&B garbage with some chick hanging onto notes sounding like  a wailing banshee.    That stuff is terrible.
Oh and the God awful John Lennon and Paul McCartney attempts at a Christmas songs.   Those are chit too.

@Glis -- One reason I like Spinal Tap's "Christmas with the Devil" is because many popular music groups over the years have sung about sex and drugs and rock and roll....until it came time to make a little extra cash selling a Christmas music album. Then, suddenly, they were about peace on Earth and goodwill towards all mankind.

I think the Spinal Tap approach is more honest...;-D...

  • I get that.
Check put Mojo Nixon's Christmas songs.   Might like some of it, though his best ones are hard to find on YT.

  • I like Kirsty Maccoll and the pogues song, fairytale of New York... lol I like it cos i was young when it came out and I LOVE Kirsty MacCOll but now i like it because it makes me laugh that respectable shops play it at christmas.. lol like they either don't get the bad language and theme of the song.. or they do and our (LOVELY FREEEEEEE UK society) is so laid back and cool now that we don't bat an eye at a few swear words etc :)

I think were talking about the same group - the group I'm talking about were on a low budget and they shopped at bargain stores so they had to ware pants that were size 28 even to they were a size 33. Father Christmas is about a gang of poor kids that beat up a department store Santa and tell him to give them his money and save his silly toys for the rich little boys and girls. I know that doesn't sound very Christmasy but it's got a good massage about thinking about the people who have nothing at Christmas. Cheers!

  • My absolute favorite Christmas song is Carol of The Bells. The best artists for this incredible song would be the Trans Siberian Orchestra and John Tesh. By the way, have you heard Pentatonix version of Mary Did You Know? I love that version!

I don't have a favorite Christmas song.  My favorite seasonal song, though, is Winter Wonderland by Doris Day.  My Ma used to sing this to us.
