What is your worst memory as a child?

My father disappeared when I was six.

That would break my heart in pieces.  I wonder if you have anyway of ever tracking him down.  I hope he had a better life after all that.  So sad.

I never saw him again because his foster family was on the other side of the state but we were allowed to e-mail each other.  He was happy with his foster family.

Thank goodness you had that much.  I am glad he had a relatively happy ending and you got to know about that.

That's awful! I feel so bad for that poor kid. I hope he's doing well now.

I lost contact with him so I don't know what he's up to now.  He most likely has some leftover emotional scars.  I don't know how he could not.

While nobody in my family was ever abused the ones that grew up with strict parents or ones that had a lot of stupid or silly rules don't have good relationships with them as adults.

as a kid going hunting with my dad
I shot a rabbit with a small gauge
    shot gun.
the rabbit just froze for a few seconds
    strangest look he gave me
    then fell over
    dropped the gun and cried
    but we ate him.

  • I hit a little blue bird with a BB rifle when I was little.
It fell over and onto our yard.
I picked it up and set it on a brick.
It was just there with its beak open. Then it stretched it legs real long and died.
    I've never killed anything again.
Besides mosquitos and roaches. I kill those.

  • My father bellowing, raging, BASHING the table, cocking his fist, making threatening gestures with a steak knife, faulting finding, dominating.  I would have clapped, laughed, danced and praised the day if he had disappeared.

  • Your story touches me especially. Because of my own memories and the fear I inflicted on my own when they were little.
    It sucks to.see the.effect that has.on others.

  • Im sorry to hear that W.
I wish I could say something smart or wise that would make it go.away, but I got nothing.
I suppose all we can do is not being that way ourselves.
    Or at least honestly try.

A freak doing freakish things to me. I'd rather not go into detail.

Yeah and people think I'm a weird freak because I don't like being touched in any way and the idea of a relationship grosses me out. If only they knew, they wouldn't be so judgemental about it..I hope..

Not weird at all my friend.  You learned to survive something that no child (or young adult) should ever have to endure.

Falling in a swimming pool when I was a toddler. Not knowing how to swim. I'm very lucky somebody saw me fall in and he got me out. One of my earliest memories.

Sorry to hear about yours, Element. I hope it doesn't hurt you to read this, but Perhaps it was for the better that he wasn't in your life, if that was the kind of guy he was.

Had a similar experience.  I was an adult though and it was very frightening.  I probably wept for an hour afterwards with all the adrenaline that was in my system.

I still love the beach and taking on big waves though.

Things I won't talk about here.  Let's just say I have walked many miles to get where I am now.
