Money is not evil. It is a tool to exchange goods and services.  Some goods and services may be evil. Therefore, goods and services are the root of all evil.

1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil:"

First, it says love of money, not just money. Second, it is mistranslated. It literally says a root, not the root, and evil is plural and genitive. Correct translation is "For the love of money a root of all kinds of evils:" This post was edited by Not Sure at February 21, 2017 6:32 PM MST

  • I really didnt mean to "provoke" anyone but many people have been getting very logical and serious about my silly questions. Thank you for understanding.

  • It's part of the fun of it.  You'll get used to it.

  • Possible correct translation, though "panton ton kakon" literally just says "of all the evils". It's sort of up to context to realize that obviously money is not involved in EVERY SINGLE EVIL that exists. It's deliberately hyperbolic.

The phrase is the LOVE of money, not just "money".

EDIT - Posted same time as jewels. jewels was a better answer.  This post was edited by Louie at February 19, 2017 11:27 AM MST

  • So I see, people make assumptions so quickly. My previous posts show I'm not really serious but it is what it is. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 19, 2017 11:33 AM MST

I don't think it's wise or reasonable to think that people should take questions on here as being "silly."...

If you want us to think your are silly, then let us know in each question whether you are silly or serious....

I don't want to wast my time thinking about problems that don't exist even hypothetically. This post was edited by tom jackson at February 21, 2017 6:34 PM MST

  • Look at my previous posts and it will determine how silly my questions are . You are voluntary answering my questions, you are voluntary wasting your time, all I did was ask silly questions. Good day.

I did not realize that I was wasting my time....

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt....

    My mistake....

As I just indicated elsewhere in a comment, I will simply skip your questions.

    Good life.

  • Now you know, I even tried saving you the time. Didnt mean to affect you in any way, I apologetiize if I did, it was meant to be light hearted and silly.

  • The church has bills to pay, bills are evil. BTW, who says that churches necessarily aren't evil?
