What could be a good, viable alternative to that big dumb wall?

  • Make Trump walk up and down the border ...he can rant and rave and continue his delusional hate filled speeches... give him a megaphone, or set up speakers that will relay his messages all along the wall...anyone seeing him or hearing him will rapidly turn around and go back... very little can be worse than coming to a country with that idiot in charge.

Make immigration from Mexico legal.  Document all the Mexican people already in the US and provide landed status for them so their residency is legal.  That way, they would be paying taxes, and educating their children, and voting, and starting small businesses and paying business taxes.
Roll out the welcome mat for those who want to immigrate and make the qualification rules reasonable.
Instead of hiring guards to hunt them down, hire career and language acquisition teachers to help Mexicans adapt to American expectations and culture.
Open up hiring processes so that people needing workers and workers needing jobs can meet.
Doing these things would reduce the size and impact of the economic under-culture and and increase the amount of taxes received.

The whole world is watching how the American people handle this situation.

Releasing the hounds is the worst case scenario.

Thanks Didge. These are hard working people who are forced to interact within the under culture because they don't have landed status. They are there working for cash. If they are made legal, they would contribute two ways to the economy. A wall, armed guards, and the army to combat them is the worst, most costly solution.
children  in the US have no status when they return to Mexico. This means they can't go to school.

I was thinking instead of spending over 20 billion dollars for the wall they could hire 10.000 new border guards to patrol the border 24/7. I never done the math but I bet that with 20 - 40 billion dollars there would be enough money to hire more then 10.000 guards and keep them employed for over 30 years. Cheers!

I like the idea of a new canal. All the Mexicans would sit there and cry as the giant ships went by. You would still need a wall, but all the billions in canal fees would eventually be profit in America's pocket to pay down some National Debt.  Oh, wait! The government making a profit? Never will happen.
