Have you ever GLADLY paid bail money to get someone out of jail? If so, what were the circumstances?

  • Hi RandyD...yes, it was my friend Bobby and it was the weekend coming up after Martin Luther King was assassinated, Thursday April 4, 1968.

    I don't recall exactly why Bobby got in jail, but he seemed often to get in some kind of trouble or 'nother...he was a Black Panther...not a member, exactly, but a sympathizer and he was always talking back to police.

    Actually, I think it was several of us got together and cobbled up the bail money. Bobby was kinda excitable, a free spirit, and we KNEW he would not handle three-four days in jail very well, and things were about to close down mourning Dr. King.

    That is all I remember, the relief that we got Bobby out in time.

    Grilly is perfectly fine, I tell you that again and again. Besides, she even regretted filing for divorce after a while. Missing her Randy Candy really distressed her.

  • I've never bailed anyone out of jail and was only asked one time in my life. I knew he would split as soon as he got out anyway.
