What is it that make people "attack" other members inside replies on questions?!

I thought I'd give it another go. Within less than 24 hours I've seen a masked personal attack, slandering and accusations against a name given member, mentioning another member.

Why? What's your aim?

Sincere people have left this place because of this, other sincere members are speculating in leaving because of the tendencies. Is it really what you want to turn aM into? Why/why not?

For some mind boggling reason, the vast majority of people associate reputation and character with how reasonable an argument is, regardless of how much sense it actually makes.

Personal attacks tend to be more effective at triggering an emotional response, which in turn allows the attacker to rip apart an argument more easily without having to provide any actual reasonable counter arguments limited to whichever topic at hand, specially when none can be made.

Personally, my tolerance and patience levels towards this degree of idiocy is extremely low so I do my best to not entertain this specific kind of individual.

Thank you. This was a very good reply indeed, and very inspirational. I really appreciate your input, and I think you're right about the premises behind such behaviour.

  • Attacks should be reserved for statements, standpoints, ideologies and idiocy.  There's more than enough of those to go round to keep us all busy.

Any human being can entertain an evil, selfish or stupid thought.  Doing so does not automatically make them evil, selfish or stupid.  Sometimes the correlation can appear obvious but if it's that obvious there's no real need to point it out, is there?  :)

True. And my question might be helping the situation, but my frustrations are real.

I honestly wish I could understand what the hell is going on here JA, but my brain is literally hurting.

Copy of the reply I made to you inside your post at adult Mug more than 25 minutes ago.

I give up. It doesn't go nowhere. Please simply stay out of my threads, and I will do the same with yours. No further arguments or comments. We don't give each other ANYTHING... That will be the one mutual thing we got. I hope you will follow my suggestion. I will personally thank you if you do, and wish you all my best in life. And for all what it's worth, I did mean my advises given to you back in time when we discussed regrets about the past. Take good care. Goodbye.

Human nature? Also, what constitutes as an "attack" to one person, might mean something completely different to another.

I'm honestly surprised that people acting rude on the internet comes as a shock to some people.

Some people are. Some people are even if they don't intend to be, they simply don't know any better.
