The world is full of Lenny's unfortunately ... If you liked Steinbeck, try the Grapes of Wrath ... Interesting piece of history brilliantly portrayed :)
And I kept hearing how great the movie was, too. I read the book first. Then I watched the movie.
The movie only portrays about a third (if that) of the novel's plot. I was terribly unimpressed with the movie. (The one with a young Henry Fonda.)
The last scene of Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" novel devastated me. I've never forgotten it. So powerful.

Sad, no. Infuriating, kinda. The YHWH of the Old Testament bears little resemblance to the "Abba" of the New. It does read a little differently in Hebrew, however. The KJV scholars missed a lot of the nuances that painted El in a slightly gentler light. The Masoretic text wasn't a particularly good manuscript either, the best texts were in the hands of the Turks - who weren't feeling terribly generous towards the Christians at the time, having fought and repulsed half a dozen Crusades.

We had to study Of Mice and Men for English exam... hated it.. hated it even more than SHakespeare... which I didn't mind so much.. but the thing that gets me is.. apparently of Mice and Men isn't Steinbeck's best.. so my feeling is that it's such a shame that having to read Of mice and men puts people off Steinbeck completely..
i don't remember the ending of Of Mice and Men... perhaps my mind blocked it out cos it was too sad
It's a different type of sad to me than "Of Mice and Men" but I still really liked it. I won't spoil the plot (unless you want to know the general plot). :)
I usually don't like to know anything about a book before I read it.
My son is a "Lenny". However, he has a home and is surrounded by caring and loving family members. He is somewhat more educated than Lenny and can read.
