No, but my stepfather accidentally ran over our cat with the van. Since I'm the emotionless robot, they asked me to load her up into a crate so they can take her to the vet where she had to be put down. The poor girl was in a lot of pain and I tried to be as gentle as possible, but she bit me a couple times. At that point she was old and senile and I guess she didn't notice the van she was sleeping under starting up, usually she would get up and move and my stepdad thought she had already scampered off. He felt horrible about that.
How awful. I'm sorry that happened to you and your stepfather. It's no small thing to have such a terrible accident happen like that. I would be a wreck for a long time to come. :(
Yeah, we all felt terrible but we weren't mad at our stepfather. He seemed to take it the hardest and felt guilty. People think I'm emotionless but I secretly wept for the poor girl, too.
Accidents like this happen. My dad had an old dog that suddenly took off and got hit by his neighbor. It wasn't anyone's fault and everyone felt bad.
Most normal people don't like to see any living creature in pain. It is a sad ending for his cat, but hopefully with time, he will remember the good life he gave her.
No, but while away for Easter one year, I was called home because my Dad started his truck one morning and my cat had crawled up by the engine for warmth and got skinned. He survived, but was quite literally skinned. I had to apply a salve to him twice daily...he did fine and all his fur grew back, but how he survived is still a mystery to me.

No but I ran over myself one time. I was driving around with my nephew then because I was out of smokes I stopped near a 7-11 and asked the kid to run over and get me a pack. Told me he's not old enough to buy cigs. So I ran over myself.
Yes, we had hooked up to the trailer and I guess the dog was sleeping so soundly he didn't get up and move...we did not notice him either. Very sad but nothing could be done. Another time, we went to start the car and the cat had been sleeping in the under the hood. Cut it up pretty badly. But the vet was able to clean him up. Cat had stitches, a tube coming out for drainage of things like oil etc, a cast on it hind leg. Had to pack the wound with sugar (who knew sugar helps with that?) He made it. Cost about $500. I was taking him in for his vet appointment and had him wrapped in a towel and someone leaving started up the car....he had a fit. Glad he was in the towel or he would have clawed the heck out of me.
No but my son stepped on our pet rat and broke her nose so we had to rush her to emergency to get ex-rays. She could only eat soft foods till it healed. So she had watermelon, bananas and oatmeal for a month till she could have her grain and crackers again.
