What do you do if you are scared financially? I trusted in God and he helped me.

I was young with two small kids. My husband decided to move in with a girl he met at the store. I had a part time job making $400 a month. I prayed to God to give me wisdom. He told me in my heart, and in the Bible to put God first in everything even my money, so I did. I gave 10 % to the church which was going to make me low on my rent in 3 weeks. But in the Bible, book of Micah, it says "I challenge you to trust me, give me your first and I will pour down heaven for you" so I trusted him. After 2 weeks I received a knock on my door. A lady that I had given a ride to visit her friend in a nursing home a couple of times had died she said, and she wanted to give me all the money from the gift she had inherited from her friend $22,000. I could pay my rent. God never fails us...I have challenged God by putting all my eggs in Jesus basket. It was the right basket!

It was nothing but pure luck. How many people have done the same, but failed to be saved by the kindness of a stranger?

God, Jesus, and $2.75 will get you a bus or subway ride in NYC. It's called coincidence, not magic. As you found out with what you gave to the church, a fool and her money are soon parted. Somebody did a great brainwashing job on you!

  • $22,000 isn't that much. You'll blow through that in a few months.

That's nice.  What if He didn't?  Is that how strong your faith is?

Maybe His answer that would have been in your best interest would have been to keep you poor.  Maybe that would save your eternal soul when you see that detachment is the true gift.  I would truly love to be a person that needs NOTHING and is happy.  That would be  a far better gift  than worrying that God is gonna come through and buy me a new car. I would rather not need anything and be happy.

Too bad you missed that part of the lesson.  Happiness and fortune come and go.

But I am truly happy for you.  I get all giddy too when something great happens and I naturally want to give Almighty God all the credit.  But the truth is, when a perceived bad thing occurs, I must give Him all the credit for that as well and be just as grateful.   Because God knows what is best for me.   It probably isn't cash.

But it is nice to have bounty.  God loves abundance too.

He helps me every day. I have about 20 stories like this, I just posted one. I will post another next week when I have some more time. If you talk to any Christian who tithes they never have a need for money! God Gives us at least 7 times what we give to HIM  back, sometimes 1000 times (God never fails, Never)

But it paid my rent that month and a few more and then I got a terrific new job!

No, Carazaa,, all that would happen is that I would change my perspective such that any good things that happen to me would be attributed to a god that I have convinced myself exists.

@Carazzaa: What you experienced is called a self-fulfilling prophecy. You did what you did but convinced yourself that it was because of god. Because you believe it, it's true for you. There's no objective reality that that's why it happened.

It's not surprising that you're programmed to think this way - many cults involve brainwashing like this, and Christianity began as a cult of Judaism.

I don't think we can expect to be rich but we will be blessed.

I don't want to be rich but I needed to pay my bills. God helped me do that.

Not at all. God loves us and will help us if we repent and put him first!

Again, it's true for you because you believe it and want it to be so. It's equally not true for those who are not Christian and don't believe it to be so. There's no provable objecteive reality. And how do you know god is male? In my congregation, we refer to god without any reference to gender - not as him or her.

Where is that god of yours when little kids get tortured, raped , abused and murdered ?

That all seeing god, apparently just enjoy watching , because when it comes to help those vulnerable children he does absolutely nothing.

He behaves more like a voyeur and nothing else.

"You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the Fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."

What a jerk, that god is.

Do you mean you justify what I stated in my answer with that ridiculoss quote ?

That´s not only sad, that is sick, Carazza.

  • How come Jesus hasn't given me that type of money and I put him first?  If I rob a bank would that be similar and help me pay my bills?
