How important is "saving face" to you? How many lies would you tell/support to avoid admitting you were wrong? Why?

I know of a woman who practically never admits that she's wrong, even when irrefutable facts are shown to her that she is wrong. I say "practically never" because just last week she quipped to another member here, "I sit corrected".  It's the first time I can recall in approximately 5 years of reading her posts (AnswerBag and AnswerMug) that she's owned up to infallibility.
