My boss could have attested to you that I am a very conscientious kind of employee; but then I met the lady of my dreams. Now he thinks I am developing early onset dementia.
A well timed question. This week I returned a dropped $20 to a customer and returned by mail a wallet found in the street. Of course I'm diminishing the merit of doing these things by declaring them here.
While that crossed my mind, I'd rather let you know that when you put that out there, it often inspires others and lifts their hearts that you did this very fine deed. I for one are grateful you told it, so hopefully that lightens the load of the karmic debt.
At my work place we participate in a program called, "Ben's Bells" which one may Google. Anyway in this program one can send a notice to the supervisor when an act of kindness has been observed. The employee is given a notice and a small hand painted ceramic kindness coin. These are fun and cool. I have gotten three. For acts as simple as helping an elderly, very tired woman to her seat by carrying her food tray. Yes, I liked the small ego stroke of recognition and the coin was very nice. However it is also sad such a small act needs recognition. It should just be what one does.
The wallet I returned without including my return address. I enclosed a small note asking the recipient to return a good deed to someone else one day. I hope he does.
Your boss and this idea is spreading like wildfire just by your mention of this. That is indeed cool and a brilliant idea. He made this fun. I love it.
