I am part English I am told, does that count?

I hate the 4th.  I always get depression around this time of year.  I have bad things happen a lot around this time of year.  But that was yesterday's thoughts.  I will act as if this one will be fine.  (it never works)

With the current state of affairs in this country, they're probably glad to be rid of us. Trump would be busy trying to evict the Queen from Buckingham Palace so he could make it into a hotel.

  • This state of affairs would not exist had the colonies lost the war or had remained loyal to the Crown.

This state of affairs would not exist had Trump's parents not procreated.

Actually the electoral college elected him, the people elected Hillary with about 200,000 more votes ... I hope they do do away with the electoral college soon..

It's a significant date for Americans, not the British. The Brits had 1/3 of the world, and the US was just a slice of a very large pie. No modern-day British person is going give a cr@p about an empire loss from the 18th Century.

I just never think about it, unless someone reminds me. It is just a date with absolutely no significance.
I will add that I once heard a story about an American, living and working in Britain, who couldn't believe we didn't celebrate independence day!?!?

I suspect most of us hardly notice it, but those who do, don't bother about it.

We've had a year or two to get over it. Might be more concerned if Scotland declared independence.
