Even adultery can't, the relationship must have "irretrievably broken down".

Nope, nor is it likely that such a specific cause would be brought up; with the advent of "no-fault divorce" in most US jurisdictions decades ago, filing to dissolve a marriage is one of the easiest legal procedures in the land. Mind you, I didn't say that finalizing it is the easiest, just filing for it. Almost any person at any time can sue for divorce without naming specific reasons. The catch-all phrase is "unreconcilable differences".  Unsatisfactory sex can fall into that category.

That's how my my first wife and I split. We dissolved the marriage. Sex had been out of the equation for years as she liked the ladies more. This post was edited by Element 99 at July 27, 2017 10:48 PM MDT

  • I have never understood why a couple must present grounds beyond, "I no longer wish to be with this person."

"To have and to hold ... until death us do part." It's an oath, must be properly annulled or it's perjury.

  • And I some supposed authority will not annulled a couple is doomed to live in misery?  Moreover your post does not answer my post.  Why should an unhappy couple need to present reasons beyond, "We are unhappy together."?

"until death do us part" is not an oath. It's a goal. This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at July 27, 2017 4:25 PM MDT

In the US, you don't even need a reason.
