In student days it was Wimpy. After I married we used to frequent KFC. Macdonalds featured only occasionally.

Nowadays we are too posh for that.

No, I rarely go.. mostly if I do go it's because my daughter likes it. I do appreciate that they do things that are not burgers... so at least there is some choice.

I can see that some of the things they do would be good for a homeless person with benefits.  A cooked meal and a hot coffee must be valuable on a cold day. Not ideal long term though.

I love McDonald's but unlike you, I only go when I can afford it.  2 bucks?  Really?  I have bills to pay and it is hard to only spend 2 bucks there.

A normal breakfast is more like 6.

I wonder how that compares with Brit prices.  The perception is that food is cheap there... but I remember when I went there nothing was cheap... and so I wonder if it's a myth.

Compared to what?   It is cheap compared to a restaurant where you must add a tip or something.

Compared to Brit prices for similar..  Yes we have to pay tips and/or service charge here in restaurants. Tips are voluntary.

https://burgerlad.com/2013/01/mcdonalds-menu-prices-uk.html   Looking at this a sausage and egg muffin seems to cost £2.19 which should be around $1.32  so those prices seem quite expensive to me?  This post was edited by Adaydreambeliever at July 29, 2017 2:37 PM MDT

An Egg McMuffin in your city is $2.79, not $5.50.  I don't know where your picture came from or what location it represents but I can't imagine it's in the USA.  I don't even go to McDonalds but I knew those prices were crazy.  I guess it's in one of the other countries that use the $,(Mexico, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Pacific Island nations, and English-speaking Canada)

Don't forget seniors get free coffee.  I hear people say that all the time.  I think you're a senior if you are 50.

Not remotely true.  I eat there in my city and the price changes weekly.  Sometimes you get good deals but the prices I posted are accurate.  That is what I pay for a breakfast in Sun City.  Or Phoenix as a rule.  This is with hash browns and coffee not just a plain ass sandwich.

$5.50 for a plain ass Egg McMuffin? Come on, that's a little dubious.

  • I never eat the food at McDonald's but I love their dollar days in summer months for drinks. I go there often for dollar ice coffee's cos I love them :) I don't get a toy with that though...  cos it's not a happy meal :/ that's not really fair for me. I hate mcdonalds then.

It seems like I had trouble with it at first. If you eat there, it's well worth the effort to try to figure it out.

  • I don't really eat there too often. I do like their fries though. I'm going to be out and about a little later today, I might give it another shot. :)

  • "No" ... not in the last decade and then only because
it was the only place to buy food within walking distance
of the motel I was staying in.
