You and me both kiddo! There was a movie about that very thing years ago with Warren Beatty. He told the truth about everything and the folks found that so refreshing they elected him (I think). I doubt that would be true in reality and certainly not true today. Alas. Thank you for your reply LyricalOne and Happy Sunday. I'm gonna call you something else besides LO. How about Lyric? Would that work for you? Do you sing? Are you a musician/poet? My moniker is RosieG because I'm Rosemarie and my surname begins with a G. Nothing remotely creative there. But LyricalOne? There's a story there I'm sure! Care to share it?
My son says that the only people who should be politicians aren't and the ones who are, shouldn't be. I guess he's right about that.. No I'd be rubbish at it.. Closest I got was serving on the Parish council, which is the lowest, and non-political level of local government. I did great things.. children's play areas etc.. and lol whoop whoop, I got a village notice board installed.. My expertise was planning issues and environmental issues. But it was also so frustrating at times how over cautious and worried about doing anything daring and I ended up leaving and telling them that they were all so stuck in their ways that nothing ever happened. This was because I spent months writing a pond management report... and they refused to act on it or adopt it because they were worried that I wasn't an *expert* - I think that irked me because I HAD had training and I HAD run my report by the top experts in the field and the expert who trained me.. SO I knew it was sound.. They didn't seem to see that just because they knew me as a housewife, that didn't mean I didn't know more than that...
Several years later they commissioned, at great expense, a proper pond management report.. mine had been free of charge! And I had to laugh.. somehow the company who wrote the report had got hold of my report.. and they agreed with every damn thing I said AND praised my report saying I was spot on in my recommendations.. I never said anything .. but small victories are good :)

Freedom isn't free. It shouldn't be a bragging point that 'Oh, I don't get involved in politics,' as if that makes someone cleaner. No, that makes you derelict of duty in a republic. I'm not a fan of arguing or lots of attention. Both of which I feel are inevitable as a politician. Though I have plenty of strong opinions and would love to be more active in causing change (for the better), I just don't think I'd be good in that field.
Hmm, let's see. The opposition is looking at my posts on AM. They're reading my stories on SW. My political career's done, you can stick a fork in it now.
