I don't go out to movies anymore, but I have no problem not finishing a movie that I don't like. 'Manchester by the Sea is the last one that I didn't finish watching. The only time I can remember walking out of a movie theater was back in the 70's. I like musicals, but this was horrendously bad.

I was with my cousin in a fleapit cinema in Thame many decades ago. We left because it was impossible to hear the dialogue. There was an altercation with the projectionist (whose fault it was) through a window. Later my cousin went back all aggravated and vengeful (unknown to me) and torched the place.
It just hit me - - the altercation was between the projectionist and your cousin? And your cousin came back because of it. I was thinking "altercation" -- that the projectionist was just having problems with something/someone in the room and it was interfering with the projectionist's ability to "project' the film and that irritated your cousin. Ha!
My, it must have been a long day for me to think create that weird scenario. :)
