Do you think every Jewish member of the Trump administration should resign in protest?

Some folks believe that if you're a Jew and your boss says nice things about people who marched in the street chanting anti-Semitic and Nazi-era slogans, you have to resign in protest.

U.S. National Economic Director Gary Cohn, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin have said nothing, at least in public. So it has fallen to non-Jews to tell President Trump — like the members of his now-disbanded manufacturing council — that he's wrong about the "good" Nazis.

So, you agree President Trump did not say there are "good Nazis"? And that there were member of the violent left wing group antifa but of course not all the counterprotesters were member.....
    Just checking.

No. I agree that the US is a nation of laws and people have no right to take the law into their own hands just because they feel righteous in their views.

Here is the ONLY thing I am saying.  TRUMP backed NAZIS.   He defended them by saying well the person that is being raped is guilty too.

You march into anyplace on earth and yell JEWS must leave this is my country and you have the FREAKING NERVE to defend this?

I don't know what nationality you are, lady, but it sure is not black and it sure is NOT Jewish.

Where did I defend Nazis? I did not and do not. I simply did not give the violence of Antifa a pass because of our mutual dislike of Nazis. (I do not follow the mindset of  "The enemy of enemy is my friend "
....no both violent  groups are my enemies.

"It actually happened in C-ville"? What actually happened in C-ville? Were you there and actually witnessed what happened ? (You should have stopped by Bodo's Bagels - superb!)

So far as I know Trump wasn't in C-ville this past weekend. All he did was condemn the violent "haters" on both sides of the fence. And there appear to have been more than enough on both sides looking for a real rhubarb. Trump is right when he says that there was plenty to go around! And THAT'S what appears to be at work, that Trump called out the violent liberal progressives as well as the violent Socialists (as in the remnants of the National German Socialist Workers Party) and the "skinheads". As the old saying goes "it takes two to tango".

Yes, it actually happened in C-ville. A crowd marching through the streets chanting "Sieg Heil!" and "Blood and Soil!"

What part of that do you condone, or not understand?

Define "a crowd". How many were in that crowd? Got any verifiable video? And don't you find it interesting that the violence of the counter-protesters wasn't covered? Weird, huh?

And if that did happen then yes, I do defend their Right to do that. I don't agree with their message but I'm not going to condone someone crapping all over the Constitution because they don't happen agree with the protesters. Those that want to suppress the protesters and take away their 1st Amendment Rights are the real tyrants, the real Nazis.

How many do you need for it to be abhorrent? Contort yourself enough and you can convince yourself of anything. This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at August 17, 2017 1:00 PM MDT

No my friend, you're the contortionist. You seem to have no trouble justifying squashing other People's Rights if there exercise thereof offends your delicate sensibilities in some way. I find that to be really reprehensible. Personally I'd rather have them out there where we can keep an eye on them, not hidden in the shadows, just waiting.

How does televising Trumps making his statements constitute "misrepresentation of his statements?"

It's selectively edited to distort the meaning. Most people don't have time to pay close attention and listen to entire speeches.

They're paraphrasing his remarks in very dishonest way knowing that most people won't look deeper and aren't sophisticated enough to know what's going on here.

It's always easy for another person to tell someone to quit their job because of some racist arsehole, but you got to remember something. Some of these people have families and they need to put food on the table for their children. That may be one reason why some haven't quit in large numbers. Although, some of those same people can probably afford to be without a job for a certain amount of time. I figure that's not the case for most.

And it's also easy for another person to say that someone shouldn't stand up for moral principles and do the right thing. As Martin Niemoller (a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps) famously wrote:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

    And, of course, Ben Franklin:

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

In 1996, three members of President Clinton's administration stood up for their beliefs by resigning in disagreement with his decision to sign a welfare reform bill. Shouldn't opposition to neo-Nazis and white supremacists inspire an even more urgent devotion to principle? Will no one in the Trump orbit send the most powerful message possible by leaving his court in defense of decency?

Just some food for thought. This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at August 17, 2017 10:44 PM MDT

The question was, "Do you think every Jewish member of the Trump administration should resign in protest?" Of course it still matters, whatever race or culture you come from. I was answering the exact wording of the question. Trump is the President of the USA, but people around the world focus on him, in a way that no previous president has been focused on, because we can all see that he is an idiot who doesn't know what he is doing, and a whole bunch of very unsavoury right -wing elements have congregated around him and see him as a figurehead. Americans, as well as we Brits, and most other countries, fought against the Nazis, the people who inspired those chanting "Hail Trump!" The idiots who support Trump probably regard themselves as patriots. That is a farcical notion. They are traitors.
