How would you describe strength?

Not meaning physical strength.. lifting something, pushing etc. but in a different, human way?

Being able to stand for what you feel is right, regardless of who is disagreeing.
It's easy to ignore people that don't like you, much harder to ignore those that do.

  • Being resilient and caring for others is a sign of strength in my opinion.

My mother always cared for family members that were sick or dying while going to work everyday and raising a family.
I see her as a very strong person.
My dad always went to work and stayed at the same job forever even though his boss treated him like crap.
He was sick for years and still tried to get outside and work and he tried to help me right up until the weekend before he died.
    He never quit anything.
I think he was strong too.
I had a friend who worked full time and cared for his wife for years while she had Alzheimer's disease right up until she passed away.
He was a good guy who would help anyone.
I think he was strong too.

So endearing.. your parents were both so strong, and it seems that the mental strength outshines anything. I like that; being GOOD to others is strength. And your friend being so brave, in the midst of an illness, surely strength- thanks for sharing such great examples Truth :)

  • You're welcome.
I was blessed to have such strong role models in my life.
I've learned a lot from my whole family and I still love them very much.
Thanks. : ) This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at August 26, 2017 9:39 PM MDT

    Not compromising righteous principles...

A righteous person does not veer to the left or right from doing what God has defined as right. He is ruled by God's established and unchangeable principles rather than feelings or peer pressure.    https://www.foundationsforfreedom.net/Topics/Righteousness/Righteous_Aspects.html

Picking yourself up and dusting yourself off everytime you get knocked down, and still believing in yourself.. To keep on trying even when the going gets tough, to not allow things to beat you..  And all the other things people have mentioned here

I think the "Man of La Mancha" said it pretty well---

    To dream the impossible dream
    To fight the unbeatable foe
    To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
    To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
    To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest, to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right without question or cause
To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To fight the unbeatable foe, to reach the unreachable star
