Growing up, my sister was a slob. Used to drive my mother crazy until finally she just decided to keep her door closed. Which did manage to keep fighting to a minimum until stuff started crawling out from under the door. I believe she called them Tribbles, those things from Star Trek.

I just can't stand it and happy that I don't have to see it.  My kids didn't keep their rooms completely tidy but it was never so bad that it took more than a few minutes to tidy up.  I did the cleaning myself but I made them keep things put away and neat.  For every item that went into their room, something had to come out.  I don't like clutter either.  My daughter is a neat freak but has no concept of cleanliness.
I'm going up to visit next week and am dreading it like crazy.  The good news is that my own apartment up there is being built so I will soon have my own place and visiting will be much more enjoyable.  The kids love for me to be up there.  I enjoy them but it takes me a couple of weeks to readjust them to a satisfactory way of being.

Having your own space definitely goes a long way towards fostering family harmony.   :-)

I shared a room in this house with messy daughter for 3 years.  I can do anything after that one.

I owed her and I tried to save her life. I hope I was instrumental.  She is worth it.

Ooh, it's hard to tell whether it's my younger son or my daughter.. both are very, very bad when it comes to making a mess and not clearing up after themselves. I think I am going to say my son just about wins though as daughter at least keeps her mess mainly in her room whereas son makes a mess wherever he goes.

My daughter. She's 28 going on 17 - has a floordrobe in her room, never turns anything off, it takes a crowbar to get her out of the shower etc. She's getting married next year, then she's her husband's problem.

The problem isn't that Daddy is wrapped around her little finger. The problem is that she knows it.
