Machine guns AREN'T legal anywhere in the USA without Uncle Sam's approval. Federal law requires that Treasury "approve" every transfer of ownership of Title II firearms. And there's a "tax" that has to be paid each time such a weapon transfers ownership. But it is legal to own them in all 50-states with that approval and "stamp". (Unless someone is ignoring the Constitution somewhere.) This post was edited by Salt and Red Pepper at October 4, 2017 5:02 AM MDT

No worries on my part. I'm not an expert by any means. I'm not much of a news watcher, either, and I always attempt to go to the "other side of the aisle" news sources in order to verify the information I've come across. Much of the time, I find that they simply don't offer any info at all. Very frustrating, though not surprising.

Perhaps you should inform yourself before taking off on someone who happens to be right.  Your apology is certainly in order.

  • I am correct and provided a source. Rosie is wrong about 90% of the time.

First of all, you're arguing semantics.  What d$mn difference does it make if she referred to it as an assault weapon.

Secondly, I suggest you re-read Rosie's question, a little slower this time perhaps, because apparently you did some speed reading initially.

    She made two STATEMENTS.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER those statements (and pay close attention) she said:

    "IF those statements are true...."

She didn't say those statements WERE true.

    Got it?  IF

Couldn't open the link, but the manufacture or importation of new fully automatic weapons for civilian use has been banned in the US since 1986. Weapons made prior to the ban may be bought and sold for civilian use if you have about $20-grand in your pocket (and that's just for the first day's ammo at the range  ). They may still be manufactured for the bigger customers though, like the military and law enforcement.

Neither, as I have no intention of ever going to Nevada. Not even for a visit.

Happy Tuesday Sbf. I think you would like at least one thing there. I think it is still there but I haven't been to Las Vegas in years. They had something called "The Fremont Street Experience". At an appointed hour all the Casinos went dark and when you looked up you'd see a massive blocks-long picture show...as if it were the largest TV screen in the world. It's been so long I don 't recall what some of the images were but it was really something. Imagine being among tons of folks in the dark watching moving images overhead. I was really impressed but then I think I impress easily. It was memorable. SIGH. Thank you for your reply. Once again the awfulness of being a gun-crazed country shows itself for what it is. The same old arguments for gun control will be repeated. The same objections and cries of CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS will be used. Nothing ever changes here. Or when it does it just gets worse. :(
