How do you keep a sense of lightheartedness/sense of humour when times are difficult/when people say offensive/upsetting things to you

Or when you feel lonely and are alone/can't be amongst other people? How do you keep your spirits up in these situations? Esp if you can't get out of it easily ie if you can't go for a walk.

Irony tends to amuse me, so I can usually find that in any situation and it helps.

As far as what people say, I know who I am and I'm mostly okay with me, so it doesn't affect me much. I do consider what they've said, and if they're right, I will own it and try to do better.

There is a oneness within you
be one with it and you will
    always be in tune, happy,
    light hearted, and at peace
with whatever life brings your way.
If you are not in tune with that oneness,
it means you are identifying with all of the outside stuff.
Identify with that oneness within you
and you will always be in balance,
The outside stuff won't deter you,
    or effect you.

Having an anxiety disorder can aggravate my frame of mind but many times, sort of going to the Serenity Prtayer helps me, at the least, to begin to regain a sense of calm. (Even if one is not of faith, the prayer seems to me to be good advice.)

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

And after the calm happens a bit, my sense of humour has a better chance of kicking in - - I do admit, though, that my sense of humour is usually very close by me all the time anyway. I'm grateful for that. I'm able to laugh at myself a lot -- and I'm usually the one somehow making my life in my head worse in the first place, so laughing at myself can kick in the realization of the absurd lengths my mind can go in creating stress.
    :)

Geez -- all of this hardly makes sense as I read it --  I'll post it anyway.
    :)

I don't really know but that sounds like a difficult position in which to find yourself.  The internet is the answer that popped into my mind.  You obviously know how since you are here.  Maybe be active in a couple of sites like this.  Maybe take a course online (both Harvard and Stanford [https://online.stanford.edu] offer them free of charge) on a subject that interests and/or entertains you.  You could write a blog.  I don't really know who reads them, but that suggestion is always among suggestions for internet enjoyment.  I wish you well.
