Comic books, riding my bike, climbing trees, telling jokes and riddles, doing croword crossword puzzles, watching old movies from to 30s and 40s, etc.

I was into science and inventions. I 'invented' the steel belted tire in the 50's before I ever heard of them. (too many flats on my bicycle) Then I tried to build a jet engine, (age 9) but didn't have enough money to finish it. Then a radio tower out of old ladders. I built a raft, but it sank. Then I built a wooden ramp and jumped my bicycle through a wall of burning newspapers like I saw daredevils do at the local county fair. I built earthen dams across the little creek that flowed across our farm, and then broke it so I could watch the sudden torrent of water blast downstream. I always had something cooking to make a summer day interesting. This post was edited by B.H.Wilson at November 26, 2017 1:52 PM MST

  • Movies, acting out movies seen on Saturday afternoons for family along with cousins that shared trips to matinees with me. Bike riding and exploring wooded areas, reading anything I could get my hands on, fishing, boating, skiing and playing board games.

  • Watching cartoons, drawing maps of fictional places and writing about them, reading, going for bike rides and hikes, hanging out with my friends, listening to music...

Oh wait. I still do all these things.

Alright, so the cartoons I watch are now "Bob's Burgers" and "Adventure Time" rather than "Pokemon" and "Arthur", but even those latter two I will still watch on occasion!

I've added more interests and hobbies to my list now that I am older, but I really haven't lost interest in the things I loved as a kid, at least in the general sense.

I loved swimming and playing pretend with my sister. I also loved toads. I used to have a toad hut in the garden that I would check every morning and find a bunch of toads huddled up in there. I used to call it The Toad Hotel. I liked to just pet them then leave them be.

  • My childhood ended when I was 10 in 1945 and the misery and hardship came at and after the time of ending of World War II in Germany. There was only time for survival and for being an adult.   - - - Before that I always carried paper and coloring pencils around and played outside in nature.
